It’s yet another snow day this week. This time for extreme cold. This complicates my day a little but I’m going to make it work. The kids are of course thrilled, that school is canceled, as I would have been at their age. I don’t necessarily mind the school being closed, but I’m trying to take care of a ton of things right now, and the kids being home is a distraction.

I’m recording my second interview of the new season today. This year I’m going to be putting some focus on connecting parents with services that can be of benefit to their families, especially in the advent of COVID. Afterwards, I’m go to continue making drywall repairs to the living room in preparation for painting next weekend. The kids are at their moms and I’m planning on taking advantage of that time to make major progress in the living room.

Yesterday was really frustrating because I ended up with a plumbing issue that entirely too long to fix. It took four trips to the store and some outside of the box thinking to temporarily fix things. It wasn’t a huge deal but it needed to be addressed right away, whcih pulled me away from my ever growing to do list.

It wasn’t a huge repair but I couldn’t find the part I needed. I had to turn off the water to the kitchen and couldn’t turn it back on until I figured something out.

As per the norm for me, I completely overthought the approach but ultimately succeeded in making a temporary repair. The problem was the sprayer hose broke and sent water everywhere when it was running. I ended up making a plug to replace the hose and stop the water from leaking so we could use the sink again. It works and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to find the right part but for now, it’s working.

It’s not necessarily pretty and I know these pieces are meant for gas and not water but, it works and it’s just temporary. I just plugged it back into the quick connect attached to the faucet we’re back in business.

Anyway, that caused a bit of a delay yesterday and it was frustrating.

At the same time, it was a great opportunity to show the kids how to use some tools. Emmett helped me pick out the parts and put them together. He even installed the final product on his own. All things considered, it was time well spent.

I’m going to have to play catchup today to make up for the lost time but it is what it is. I’m just gonna take a deep breath, smile, and get back to it.
