Aside from the ridiculous wait times at the doctors, Gavin eye appointment when well. The good news is, Gavin’s eyes check out perfectly healthy. The bad news is, we have no idea what’s causing the vision blackouts.
Again, it’s awesome that his eyes checked out. I’m certainly grateful for that, please don’t misunderstand. At the same time, he’s having problems with his vision that isn’t related to his eyes.
WTF are we supposed to do with that?
Could Gavin be having an aural migraine? That is when the vision dims/blacks out and can also see things like lights on the edge of the vision. I have had those in the past. They can come without any migraine pain although you can also just have the blackout.
I know about these because I have them. Not often as I did, but enough. Anyway, just a piece of info, do with it what you will. 🙂

Glad everything checked out. But along those lines, how do you know Gavin is experiencing vision blackouts? As you’ve said, he’s not exactly the greatest reporter of his own symptoms/health. How is he explaining it to you? Or is it possible that he’s hallucinating?
Just wondering where you go from here when it appears everything checks out and you’re stuck relying solely on his word. Or have you actually seen the effects these blackouts have on him in the moment?

Thanks Jimmy. Ya know, that’s a good question. You’re right, all we have to go on is what he’s telling us. I don’t think he’s making it up, not that you were suggesting that.
We do have to somewhat rely on what he tells us. I’ve been present when he’s claimed this has happened, but without seeing through his eyes, I can only go by what he says. He does tells us when it happens, at least most of the time.
When this happens, he just can’t see anything for maybe 10 seconds. To my knowledge, he hasn’t fallen down or anything like that. It does seem to scare him when it happens. There’s no outward signs that we can see though.
This is one reason why it’s so stressful. We have to take everything seriously, because the time we don’t, something will happen.
