One of the things the boys and I did together today after they came home from their Mom’s house was build a dig box for the ferrets. We took one of the big Amazon boxes I had and sealed it up with tape and poured a 20 lbs bag of rice into it. 

We built this so that the ferrets can have a place to get their dig on.. 😁 

Ferrets love to dig and so we thought we would give them something that would prove to be an appropriate outlet for this drive of theirs.  They sometimes dig in the litter box or their food dish for fun and that drives me crazy.  

This gives them a place where the mess is contained and they can dig till their hyperactive little hearts are content.

The ferrets, more than any animal the boys have had contact with, have proven to be such a positive thing for them, especially on an emotional level.  They play with and snuggle the ferrets throughout the day.  

They even find relief from stress and anxiety by snuggling them as well.  

Ferrets are super easy to care for and bring so much joy into our lives. Building this dig box was something they have been wanting to do for awhile and I kept forgetting to pick up the rice at the store.  

We remembered today and while it was a really rough evening, there were some positive memories made tonight and I’m sure a large part of tomorrow will be spent watching the ferrets dig…  ☺
