The only thing that could make it worse

It was rougher night last night because Emmett woke up about 2 AM and was unable to go back to sleep. If at all possible, I don’t like to go to sleep while one or more of the kids are awake, especially in the middle of the night. I’ve been known to grab a nap on the couch while the kids are watching a movie or something but I’m right there in case anything happens.

I assume that Emmett had a nightmare again but he doesn’t like to talk about it and if I ask, he gets upset. Generally speaking, nightmares will wake him up and make it difficult for him to go back to sleep.

He and I ended up sleeping in the living room last night.

It took a bit but he finally fell back to sleep but then I had found my second wind and couldn’t fall asleep myself. Of all the times I wish I could find a second wind, 3 AM is not one of those times.

I did eventually fall asleep but it wasn’t very restful.

When Lizze woke up this morning, she sent me back to bed but even that didn’t last too long because Elliott ended up having a massive meltdown. I don’t even know what caused it exactly but it was enough to raise my stress level to a place where sleep was no longer possible.

The only thing that could make this worse is if this was the start of another four day weekend… Oh wait.. It is the start of another four day weekend.
