Gavin’s IVIG Infusion today was not a smooth, painless procedure.. In fact, it was any but.
The actual infusion stopped for some reason, shortly after starting. I’m not sure what happened but I had to disconnect the pump and then reconnect it, in order to get it working.
Shortly after the infusion resumed, Gavin began having side pain.
With Gavin, it’s really hard to tell what’s real and what’s drama but he did seem to be in pain and I was getting uncomfortable to the point I was going to just scrap the infusion all together today.
If we scrapped the infusion, we would probably have to stay home for Easter because he wouldn’t be protected.
He wanted to push through it and we decided to let him because, I didn’t think the side pain was actually related to the side pain and here’s why.
We got off to a late start today because Gavin was having some plumbing issues and was cramping up as a result. This seemed like he was feeling pain from being constipated and that wasn’t something we could really stop the infusion for.
The entire process took twice as long as it normally would because of all the problems.
That being said, he did complete it and the pain went away. He’s sleeping now and will probably still be asleep until about dinner time…
This wasn’t much fun and I’m hoping Monday’s infusion goes a bit smoother…
