Lizze and I made it to Cleveland, with a bit of time to spare. We did that despite some asshole almost crashing into us as he tried to pass us on the single lane in ramp.

Aside from that, traffic wasn’t too bad, and we had a nice conversation.

I’m waiting for Lizze to get out of her appointment. We’re hoping that we can manage her nausea, at the very least. There’s no cure for gastroparesis, and according to the gastric empty study she had done, roughly fifty percent of what she eats, remains in her stomach, long after her stomach should have emptied.

It’s classified as severe.

There’s no life threatening anything involved here, but quality of life is severely impacted.

I have an idea that is very loosely semi-related to Lizze’s issues. Mostly it’s about food and the challenges that your family faces in regards to it. You often mention your food budget and I know the boys have serious sensitivities, but have you thought about posting a family food diary here? Maybe once a week or so? You have a lot of readers who might be able to look at it and offer new insights or ideas on how to cut costs or help with your weight loss goals or new things for the boys to try. I did a quick search on Lizze’s condition and it sounds like soft foods are a key for her, so people might have recipes that would be friendly for her while helping to feed you and the boys as well.

Just something to think about.

Do they have any idea what has damaged the nerves in her stomach? I’m so sorry she is experiencing this. keeping her in my prayers.

They have no idea what causes this. I guess it’s typically linked to diabetes, but she’s not diabetic. It’s been an issue for most of her life, she just didn’t know what it was. Basically, anytime she eats, she gets really nauseated. That’s why she doesn’t eat regularly.

The new diet is really limited but if it takes away the nausea, perhaps it’s worth it.

They also want to do an endoscopy, and do botox on part of her stomach. They say that can stop the nausea. The problem, aside from the obvious concerns, is that she had a very bad reaction to botox for her migraine.

That’s an interesting idea. If I have the energy to do that, I just might.. Truthfully, I have a hard enough time writing at all anymore.
