I surprised my kids last night

We had a great time visiting family and friends last night. The kids did great and were quite social. I decided to surprise them with a late night movie after our family gathering. We went and saw the new Star Wars movie at 10PM, making it an exceptionally late night.

Elliott was the only one who really didn’t want to go and pushed to leave after the movie started. That said, he quickly got into it and became glued to the screen for the duration. Emmett, the one who pushed to go in the first place, passed out about 30 minutes in. He woke himself up after his brief nap and enjoyed the rest of the movie.

At this point, Elliott was not happy that we were there. Look at that stink eye. 😂

Gavin was both excited to go and remained so throughout the 2.5 hour movie. ☺

We arrived home shortly before 1AM and immediately crashed. I was the first one awake this morning and I woke up at 11AM. Emmett woke up shortly after but Elliott and Gavin are still out cold.

There’s nothing on the agenda for today. We have nowhere to go and I’m okay with that. I told the kids that if they can give me 30 minutes of cooperation as we straighten the house, they can have the rest of the day to themselves. We’ll have to see how that goes. I figured that if we put in 30 minutes of housework each day, and work as a team, we can get caught up in no time.

I feel pretty good today and the short break from our lives seems to have helped with my ongoing war with depression as well.

I’ve got some work to do today but I’ve actually been writing with a bit more regularity. I’m not really even having to force myself to do it either. That’s a good sign. ☺
