I love my kids, but dammit I need a break

I didn’t sleep well last night, and that led to us oversleeping this morning. How we start the day has a direct impact on how the day goes, and getting off to a late start isn’t a good thing.

Having to rush around puts the kids on edge and creates a stressful environment for everyone. We try to avoid mornings like this but sometimes our Google Hub hiccups, and the alarm doesn’t go off.

An interesting fact about the Google Hub, if your wifi drops, it’s completely useless, even as an alarm clock. Always, set a backup. 😉

The kids made it to school, and I took Ruby walking with me in the rain. She lives for these walks each morning, and it’s become our thing. While she won’t go outside to use the bathroom when it’s raining, she’s more than happy to walk 3.5 miles in the rain.

I got home and found Lizze standing on the counter, gutting the kitchen cupboards. We have ants and needed to locate their food source. She’s feeling quite motivated this morning, and I like it.

Now we come to Gavin who simply will not stop talking. This is a lot to deal with on a good day but today’s not the best day on record, and my endless supply of patience is no longer endless. I don’t need a play by play of every thought that pops into his head. I wouldn’t want to hear that from anyone. It’s not a personal thing at all, he’s talking too much, and anyone else doing the same thing would be equally annoying.

Gavin’s infusion was a bit problematic today, and he needed to be restuck twice. He wasn’t happy about that, and I certainly can’t blame him. No one wants needles stuck in their belly, let alone doing it multiple times. He was very, very brave and very, very talkative. 😀

Thankfully, Lizze and I are getting a break tonight. It’s been a while since we had a night off and we desperately need it.

Lizze’s mom is picking Gavin up and then getting the boys from school. They’re all spending the night, and we will have our first break in a little while.

As far as I know, we have nothing planned for tonight, and I’m okay with that. I’m not looking to spend money right now, and I just want to crash. I need a nap in the worst way.

Maybe if I weren’t so tired, Gavin wouldn’t be getting to me the way he is currently. Who knows. I’m definitely closing my eyes as soon as Gavin gets picked up.

I love my kids, but dammit I need a break. 😉

We all need a break.

You’re so blessed to have them. You have no idea how painful it is to lose one (custody)
