Sometimes it takes the flexibility of a contortionist to be an #Autism parent

I’m trying to find my award winning sense of humor again because I seem to have lost it a bit. On days like today, humor is what gets me though.

Today marked the end of Christmas break and the beginning of our return to a desperately needed routine.  We had everything planned out last night for this morning because we didn’t want to forget anything.

Planning ahead was probably the first mistake because what happened this morning rendered our preparations moot.

Planning anything out typically doesn’t work well do the to fluid nature of being Autism parents. That doesn’t always stop us from trying though.

Sleep eluded me last night and by the time I found it, it was already after 2 am. I don’t know how long I was out before Elliott woke up and was unable to sleep.

Lizze and I took turns trying to help him go back to sleep but nothing worked, leading to Elliott’s day beginning at 3 am. I finally got up around 6 am because there wasn’t a point in even trying anymore and I decided to get some things done before the alarm went off.
