How in the world do you adjust your child's ridiculously early bathroom schedule?

One of the reasons I'm losing the battle to get enough sleep is the fact that Emmett gets up every morning around 4am to go go potty. He's afraid to be by himself, so I have to sit with him for the 20 minutes it takes for him to do his business.

This is almost every single morning and he doesn't always go back to bed. I need to really get this schedule adjusted before it kills me.  O_o

Any advice.
