Today’s topic is bullying.

With the news coming in yesterday about another school shooting, bullying is thrust into the limelight once again.  While I don’t know if bullying was the reason this child brought a gun to school and went on a rampage, it’s certainly a possibility.

Bullying is something that unfortunately, impacts the lives of many kids, Special Needs or not.

What I want to discuss today is how bullying has impacted your family and what you have done about it… When you find out your child is being victimized by a bully, what is the first thing you do? How are you supposed to react to this type of situation, as a parent?

On the table for today in the topic of bullying and anything and everything that has anything to do with it.

Through my personal experiences, I could write a book about the long-term effects of bullying. I’m 37 and what I endured as the class “weirdo” and outcast has definitely given me some form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t dwell on what was done to me in grammar school and high school and have episodes of murderous rage, emptiness, and worthlessness. Tragically, I never got a break when I was young; my father would pull a lot of the same crap on me that the kids at school did. He wasn’t a real father like you are, Rob; he was much more like a nasty, sarcastic older brother. He even stole my 14 year old girlfriend from me! I know that I would have turned out a hell of a lot better if someone like you had been my father.

Re: Bullying, one thing I will say is that one time my son was being bullied (for the way he talks) and i approached the parent and got so badly bullied I have never quite felt the same since. Bullies beget bullies.
