For the love of God….enough already

I’ve been doing this for almost 3 years now and I’ve had my share of unpleasant comments on here but lately it’s gotten pretty bad.

For the record, I don’t give a shit if you believe anything that I have to say.  I really don’t.

I share what is happening in our lives. It’s your choice what you do with it.

I started this blog as a sort of digital journal for myself. It’s taken off and I’m so grateful for that.  However, just because the site has grown and I put myself out there, doesn’t mean that I deserve to be attacked.

In three years, I’ve never censored comments or banned a readers opinion.

However, as of late, it’s become a free for all and I simply can’t let this continue.  My goal is to create an environment that allows people to respectfully share their opinion and discuss their thoughts and experiences.

Absolutely no one is required to agree with me. You don’t have to like what I have to say and your welcome to share that.

Having said that, I do ask that you do so with tact and respect, that’s all.

What has been happening more and more frequently is baseless attacks and allegations from people who don’t even bother to read or simply don’t understand what they’re reading.  Some just want to create drama.

It’s not that these people aren’t entitled to their opinions,  it’s that they are taking away from the discussion and derailing the whole point of what I’m trying to do.

In order to address this problem and maintain the open and uncensored environment, I’m requiring people to register, prior to commenting.  Essentially, you can no longer comment as a guest. If you’ve already signed up for a LiveFyre account, you’re good to go.  You should be able to sign in via Twitter and Facebook as well.

Going forward, I will ask that if you don’t agree with my blog, my words or what I’m trying to do,  please don’t read.

I’m trying to help.  I’m trying to make a difference and whether you like it or not, I’m actually helping a lot of people.

I love to read your thoughts and opinions but if you have nothing to contribute to the discussion that isn’t even remotely constructive, please refrain from sharing.

Going forward, if you want to comment on this site, you are agreeing to treat everyone with respect and dignity.  This is to take place regardless of whether or not you agree with what your reading. Majority of you have been amazing and we have been able to discuss very sensitive topics without things turning ugly.

For that I’m both grateful and proud.

I want to maintain this site without ever having to stoop to censoring comments or banning people from commenting.

It’s important that people be aloud to read both side of the discussion and form their own opinion.  Having said that, people also need to feel safe enough to share, without fear of being called names or being attacked for their beliefs or opinions.

If someone comments and is obviously looking to start drama, simply ignore them. If comments get abusive towards other readers, there is a button that let’s you report the comment and I can look into it.

Again, this has nothing to anyone not agreeing with what I have to say.  It has everything to do with creating drama and derailing discussions. I hope I’ve made this clear.

Please feel free to speak your mind. Just do so while treating everyone else with respect.

Unfortunately, the internet is full of “haters” who just troll websites, looking to make themselves feel better by leaving crass &/or antagonistic comments. I guess its a power trip for them and they don’t care that they come across as pettyminded scumbags.

Silachan AMDuser Melisssssa @Kathy Wolf Murray thank you all for the support.  I really appreciate it.

The thing with autism, NO two kids are the same!  So something that may have worked for someone may not work for someone else.  No need for judgements either.  We are all trying our best!

Rob and Lizzie, I am deeply disturbed by the comments left by that person. You and Lizzie do an awesome job with all 3 boys. I may have a difference of opinion sometimes, but I do respect all that you do to keep your family afloat. After reading those comments from that person, I think I know who it is. “she” attacks you about how you take care of Gavin and wants nothing to do with Thom. I know you know who I mean. I hope your day today is a good one. Take care.

I have seen other sites with comment systems and because of the trolls and Drama creators they quickly disable guest comments. like if my site I have to approve the comment before it will post because I am using the WP default comment system.

Sadly some people have nothing better to do with their lives than to stir up trouble for others, even on the internet. Sorry to hear you’re dealing with people like that.
