Every holiday, my family faces a dilemma. Should we celebrate with family and friends, even though out three little ones with Autism will likely pay a price? Should we stay at home and just pay it safe?
These are really important questions.
As far as my family is concerned, sometimes we play it safe and other times we through caution to the wind.
Everything in life is a gamble, if you really think about it.
What do you and your family do for the holidays? Have you found ways to minimize the stress on your child with Autism?
Here’s a few things that we have found that helps, when we visit family/friends for the holidays;
1) Never be afraid to leave, even if it appears to be rude.
2) We always pack our kids 3DSs, so they can zone out if they need to.
3) We try to plan ahead to minimize excitement, anxiety and anticipation.
