Do you ever spontaneously break into song?

Maybe I’ve just totally lost my marbles but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always broken into song at the weirdest times.  I usually make things up as I go and I have no idea why I do this.

It’s not like I’m sitting there thinking, this would be a great time to remove my brain mouth filter and burst into so crazy made up song.

I suspect that it’s just a weird way of dealing with stress. However, I now have everyone in the entire house doing the same thing, including the kids.

That’s right. It’s not uncommon to have one of the boys walk past me while they are singing some goofy song to themselves.  It’s really cute.  🙂

Sometimes when the boys are upset about something and the only thing that will work is redirection, I’ll sing (quite poorly mind you) about what’s going on and end up making them laugh. It actually works really well and because I never say the same thing twice, it works more than once.  🙂

I certainly won’t be heading to the auditions at American Idol but the kids love it.

Is there something that you have done to help your kids that outsiders might look at you like you’re crazy? I’ve had plenty of people look at me like I’m crazy, including my wife.  🙂

It’s all good though.  Perhaps I’m a few fries short of a Happy Meal but I enjoy being goofy.  I really believe that being goofy and acting like a kid is what’s kept me from stroking out due to all the stress. My nonexistent hairline and grey beard not withstanding. I’m still here.  🙂

I have always broken into song. I used to push my oldest one in her swing when she was less than a year old. At that time it was a way for me to get my kids to talk extra exposure to speech I guess. Now I am sure that I do it because I am crazy. And those marbles everyone keeps talking about, I haven’t had those for a long time. 😉  I male up a new rhyme at the beginning of every school year to get us all out the door. It works well. This year it is 1 2 3 4 everybody out the door. Last year it was get in sit down and buckle up

@JenniferWhynott awesomeness. That’s a really good idea. Using the song to teach and not just distract. 🙂
