In the morning, Lizze will be undergoing a procedure called a *headache infusion. *This is basically only done in extreme cases where conventional medication can't control or break a migraine.
This will be Lizze's 3rd time going through this in the last 2 years. You may recall that she has been suffering from a migraine that has lasted over 13 months now.
This procedure is done over a period of 3 days.
Lizze will be hooked up to an IV and fed a steady stream of narcotics and migraine medications. This procedure lasts for 6 hours each day for a total of 18 hours at the end of the 3rd day.
In the past, this has successfully broken her migraine.
The last time she had this done was about a year and a half ago. It didn't work because she only did the 2 day version and not the full 3 days.
We're desperately hoping that having the 3 day infusion will be what finally breaks this bastard of a migraine.
Unfortunately, right now, the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program at the Cleveland Clinic is on hold because insurance wants her to have additional evaluations and those seem to be taking longer than we would like to get done.
One of the first things the Cleveland Clinic would have done was this same headache infusion, in order to break her current migraine. If this procedure is successful that will vastly improve her life and I would do anything within my power to free her from this pain..
Beginning Monday morning, I will basically be on my own until Lizze finishes this up on Wednesday afternoon.
She will leave at 6:30 am and I will pick her up around 1 pm. She will come home and probably sleep for hours and repeat this for the next couple of days.
I will try to keep up with the blog but I'm gonna be stretched pretty thin. This would be a great time for you to start reading from the archives and experience our journey from the beginning. There is enough back story to keep you busy reading for weeks.
Please keep Lizze in your thoughts and prayers this week. I appreciate it and I know she does as well. :-)
