Yesterday was Gavin’s 13th birthday. His grandparents, whom he’s living with right now, threw a party at a local Pizza Hut this afternoon.

Gavin invited his classmates and it was his very first boy/girl party.

He seemed to have a lot of fun and Lizze really enjoyed talking with the other moms.

Emmett was so cute because he was all about Gavin today and Gavin’s friends were really good with his high level of enthusiasm. 🙂

Elliott on the other hand was overwhelmed by party and was still overstimulated from his flu shot. Because of that, we ended up leaving early so we could get him home.

It was really nice to see Gavin doing so well.

I hung out with Lizze’s dad and shot the breeze.

My mom was there as well as some of my siblings.

I have to be honest. I was a bit concerned about how this was going to turn out. While we did leave early, what we did experienced was really positive.

I noticed that Gavin kinda hung back and wasn’t really engaging his friends but I told him that he should go hang out and have fun. He warmed up and they all had a great time.

It was really cute watching this group of teenagers mingle together. There was a whole lot of social awkwardness but they all enjoyed each others company and that’s what matters. I will say this, I was extremely impressed with how sweet and polite this group of kids were.

I’ve known Gavin’s friends for years and they are all really good kids. I’m so grateful that Gavin has a good peer group. 🙂
