Gavin is currently having a tantrum.  It’s a pretty big one if I’m being honest.  He invaded Lizze’s personal space once again and I caught him red handed.

I told him he would be having oatmeal for dinner as a consequence.  He lost it.  He’s pissed off at me because I took away his choice for dinner and gave him the default….

I had received some comments that oatmeal wasn’t severe enough.

You have to keep in mind that while it doesn’t seem like a big deal to you,  it’s a huge deal to Gavin because I’m taking away control.

Anyways, the boys were once again terrorized and I’m now counting the minutes until he moves back to his grandparents, as bad as that sounds.
I’m done……..

Thanks for sharing such an honest post.  As a new person to the autism arena I am always feeling guilty for not allowing autism to be romanticized and revered.  I am sick of people running around acting like it is a pleasure.  There are hard times that make us crazy.

Must be the season, falalalalala la la. My son on Christmas Eve was removed in a hurry by ambulance to Children’s and I was treated and released from another hospital since obviously I am not a children. Stress must have hit critical mass for my kiddo. NOt a tantrum though, a pure meltdown, he was not in there anywhere. I am just glad to still be vertical after that one. Its been a long time, I hope not to see that evil side of him anymore.

Hopefully you will get some help with Gavin….soon.

@MariaHall I can totally relate. We’ve had our share of those, especially when Gavin was younger. It was like he was possessed. I do think think people have any idea what that’s like, unless they’ve experienced that themselves. I used to call it the Dark Side. There can be and is a darker side to autism. Thankfully not everyone experiences that but some of us do.
I hope all is getting better for you and yours.
