I never expect perfection from my kids

I picked Elliott up from school and rather than go straight home, we had to run a few errands. Typically, Elliott doesn't do well with these types of unplanned excursions.  That being said, he took this in stride.  I'm really proud of him because he did really good and while there was a few tiny hiccups along the way, he kept himself in control.  I never, ever look for or expect perfection from my any of my kids because they aren't perfect and neither am I. Great job Elliott, you did really awesome today while we had to do our running around.

It wouldn’t be a Monday without this…

It's another Monday morning and aside from Emmett being home sick, it's been a pretty good start to the week.   Unfortunately for some, Monday's really suck. Gavin is one such example. Every single Monday, he must undergo a process called an IVIG infusion.  He's the proud owner of a severely compromised immune system and he needs to receive donor antibodies every Monday and Friday.  It's not a super invasive process but it is painful, comes with side effects and will have to be done for the rest of his life.   I'm super thankful that he is receiving these treatments but I really hate to be the one causing him pain by sticking the needles in his belly.   He's doing really well with his infusion this morning. I…

We had a really good morning but…..

I have to give props to Elliott because he did an amazing job in regards to getting ready for school. More often than not, Elliott struggles in the morning. He tends not to cooperate and usually drags his feet.  Like I said, this morning was very different and I'm so proud of him. ☺  Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends because I have a sick kiddo home from school in the form of Mr. Emmett. He woke up with his tummy still upset.  Last night before bed, Lizze and I agreed that if he woke up not feeling well, we weren't going to push him.  I took Elliott to school and Emmett stayed in bed. As the morning goes on though, he does seem to feel a little bit…

A quick but important Gavin update

This is just a real quick update on Gavin and how he's doing after starting his new medication.  Having only started his new bladder medication a few days ago at the most, I'm not sure when we can expect to see a change. Unfortunately, when Gavin came home from his grandparents this past weekend, he informed me that there were several times in the last 24 hours where his bladder was playing tricks on him.  I'm not sure whether or not to lose hope just yet because it's only been a short time.  This particular medication is supposed to relax his bladder and calm the sudden and sometimes painful urges to use the bathroom. I'm not thinking that there is really a dose to play around with either.  The only…

Guess who’s sick

Shortly after dinner tonight, Emmett began complaining of a tummy ache and that has continued until he finally fell asleep, around 11:00pm. I ended up snuggling with him until he was able to fall asleep. Lizze and I let him him go for a little while before moving him to his bed, where he's currently out like a light.  There's no way to know whether or not he's going to be feeling better in the morning. I'm hoping he's better but something tells me he might be home tomorrow.  Emmett always wants a snack before bed and tonight, he didn't even like us talking about food.  That's a red flag for us....  Hopefully, he will feel better in the morning because I hate when any of my kids are sick…
