It was actually a decent day

We had a pretty decent day. I received my replacement podcast equipment. I use a Rodecaster Pro and the other day, the boys and I were interviewed for an upcoming TV segment. I had to plug in headphones for everyone. I've not used them all before and one of them was broken. I was able to get this replaced but I was also shutdown until it arrived. It showed up today, so that was cool. We had a quiet day for the most part and that's okay. We did end up going hiking for a little while and there was a bit of excitement as we tried to leave the house. We were able to eventually get away and went for a nice little hike. For the most part, the…

Finally, a bit of good news

I wanted to update you guys on my current court situation. As I shared yesterday, I was subpoenaed to be a State's witness in a serious trial. You can read what this is all about here. Okay, so I heard back from the prosecuting attorney and they really nice about everything. I'm so grateful for that. I was informed that I don't need to worry about it. We went over a bit of information and it was decided that I probably won't be needed but it's still possible that I will be. Rather than make me show up to court all week, I can hang at home and worst case scenario, they will take my testimony remotely. That's a huge relief. The kids are relieved I don't have to go…

This week just became more stressful

This week has gotten insanely crazy. The last 2 days have been incredibly stressful but not for any reason you'd ever suspect. I was letting the dog out last night and I found a subpoena taped to my font door. I have been subpoenaed to be a State's witness in a very serious trial. I was completely caught off guard and I was required to be in the courthouse in standby for at least a week waiting to testify. This took place shortly before Lizze left last year and I think I talked about it then. Anyway, I'm not directly involved at all. Trying to mix things up a bit with the remote learning Basically, this in regards to piece of evidence. Lizze and I spent a great deal of…

I have to be 3 places at once

The boys have school today and I have four meetings before mid-afternoon. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to pull all of this off just yet but I'm hoping for cooperation. I fully expect to be inturrupted but I'm not sure what else I can do. I have to be in three places at once. Emmett got into his first two classes but is having issues getting into his next two classes. I'm working with the school to trouble shoot and I know it's going to require my attention while I'm scheduled to do something else. While I was scrambling to help Emmett, Elliott decided to close his eyes between classes and I didn't know that. By the time I figured that out, he'd missed 15 minutes of his…

A quick update on remote learning and working from home

I was thinking this would be our first full week back at their old school but that won't be until next week due to the holiday. Elliott went back today and Emmett is back tomorrow. I think I already shared that Elliott goes to school Monday - Thursday. Emmett goes Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It's already been a more positive experience than the previous online setup. Elliott is getting much more interaction with his teachers and friends. Emmett's in the same boat. I've overheard Elliott being very involved in class and talking with everyone, much the same way he would if he was physically present. Emmett has been working on assignments on his off days and seems to be doing quite well. Remote learning means you can sometimes do your…

The Did You Knows of Autism (Assumptions)

I've not shared one of these in a long time but I'd like to get back into the habit of doing so. The Did You Knows of Autism are short, shareable, easily digested facts related to autism. Sometimes they're about parenting or other educational tidbits of information based on my personal experience. Other times they're related to quashing stereotypes. Either way, they're always meant to be positive and designed to be shared. The point is to share information so that people can better understand and relate to what autism families experience. Please feel free to share. ☺

I’m so proud of myself for pushing through

I feel fricking amazing because I set out to tackle a project and I saw it through to completion. That's a big deal to me and I'm really proud of myself for pushing through my overwhelming desire to give up. Emmett helped me and I was able to teach him a little at the same time. I mentioned before that I wanted to conceal and manage all the wires, cables and everything else related to my podcasr that could be tucked away neatly. Yes, I realize the cables going into and out of the cloud lifter are incorrectly installed. It's fixed. ☺ The underside of my table now contains all wires and cables for my laptop, mixing board, cloud lifter, microphone, and power supplies. Everything is secured, organized and out…
