We’re still having bedtime struggles with out youngest but here’s my attitude about it

The boys went to bed so easily tonight. We had a couple nitelight issues in which we need to invest in rechargeable AAA batteries to solve. I was able to provide a temporary work around and all was right with the world. No one battled over what song they were going to listen to and no one came down stairs looking for a snack.  ☺ When Lizze and I went to bed, not having heard Emmett's music blasting from our bedroom, I thought for sure I wasn't going to find in our bed. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to be happy with the progress we made in other areas of bedtime because Emmett was sprawled out across our bed. ☺ Truthfully, it's frustrating because we can't seem to help him…

One of the only things worse than struggling as an #Autism parent, is feeling alone in your struggle

August is going to be a tough month for us. We're really struggling with groceries because it's so hard to find things that the kids will actually eat and eat more than once. Elliott and Emmett are both going through something because it seems like everything they used to eat, now tastes funny.. This leads to wasted food, frustration and it has a significant impact on our limited budget. I'm not sure how we're going to pull grocery shopping off this month but the one thing we have going for us is that school starts in about two weeks.  This means we don't have to worry about the boys during the day and that will save on food, therefore extending our budget.  ☺ While that's a blessing, it's also a curse…

We’ve had a great day :)

Lizze and I have had a pretty good day. We both slept in and spent most of the afternoon just relaxing, waiting for the boys to return home.  We even went for a walk at Stadium Park and enjoyed the weather.   This has been one of the best breaks we've had in a really long time.

This is why I really dislike Hall of Fame week

Every single year at this time, I share my personal disdain for Pro Football Hall of Fame week. I know that makes me a bad American but I live right in the middle of everything, especially when it comes to the parade. I'm all for celebrating but I just wish people showed a little regard for those of us trying to live our lives.  When we lived in North Canton, it was not something we ever thought about because it wasn't in our face. I think we've been in this house for about 13 or 14 years now and every year it's the same thing. There are people everywhere from everywhere and not everyone is pleasant or courteous to the fact that we have to live here while all this…

General Update: I’ll keep this short and sweet

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet because I'm super tired.   The boys are at Lizze's parents for the night and most of the day tomorrow, which worked out well considering the Hall of Fame kickoff parade is in the morning.  People from all over the country are collecting outside my house and lining the streets because we sit just off the parade route.  I can't explain to how loud it is outside with all the people wandering to and fro... The boys would have not slept well. Not that they ever sleep well but you get the point.   My Dad and I spent the evening making needed adjustments to the front steps. We ran into a few snags but they were no match for our combined carpentry…

How do you feel about Toni Braxton claiming her son is no longer Autistic?

I don't get why people are so defensive of Toni Braxton's announcement that her son is no longer on the Autism Spectrum. Autism cannot be cured. That's not just my opinion but instead a medical fact. I don't really care if she actually said he was cured or if she simply said he's off the spectrum.  The only two ways off the Autism Spectrum is a cure, which doesn't exist or death. Not to sound too dramatic but there's a reason they say Autism is a lifelong condition.   If the reality is that Autism cannot be cured, then how is her son no longer Autistic? Either she simply no longer considers him to be on the spectrum, which is her biased opinion or he was misdiagnosed in the first…

In the market for Melatonin? Amazon’s got a sweet deal

This is not a paid endorsement in any way.  I'm simply letting you know of about the deal I just got in Amazon.  We were out of Melatonin and when I go to Walgreens buy more, it's really expensive. Depending on when we get it, it could be $12/bottle for the exact same brand/dose/amount. I looked on Amazon and found this deal.... This is what arrived today and I paid a total of $11.00. It's the exact same stuff we buy at the pharmacy but for half the price. Click the link above to check it out on Amazon.  Again, I have no stake in this but I know how expensive Melatonin can be and how vital it is for families like mine.  Hope this helps someone... ☺️

I can’t really complain about that can I

Last night was a rough one because we were out of melatonin and that's a recipe for no sleep.   Thankfully, Elliott was able to fall asleep but Emmett was not so lucky. That means I wasn't so lucky either.   We ended up camping out in the living room and listening to music until about 2:30am. He finally fell asleep and so did I but it doesn't feel like I got any sleep.   Despite that, I'm feeling pretty good and all the kids are actually getting along today.  I can't really complain about that can I. ☺
