We are officially entering week two of the boys being sick. Thankfully, it doesn't appear that Gavin is among those counted sick.
You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) how many times I have laid in bed at night, wondering who in their right mind would have ever thought that I was the right choice to parent my three kids with Autism?
You asked for it and you have it. This is my personal opinion on a topic that is sensitive and currently all over the news and social media once again. I'm looking at this issue from a different perspective.
I wanted to share a few thoughts with you because I think it's really important to keep a proper perspective on things. I've been a public figure in the world of Autism for pushing 6+ years now and I've learned so much. Something that I've realized is that one of the biggest struggles that Autism parents can face, is also one of the biggest misperceptions as well. I would be surprised if one of my fellow Autism parents were to tell me that they have never felt alone or isolated as a result of being an Autism parent.
