We had a solid eight hours of sleep last night and I'm feeling so much better now. I was in rough shape from the long drive and desperately needing to close my eyes. 😴 We've had a great breakfast, courtesy of Wishes Can Happen and are resting for a bit before getting back into the car to continue our journey. We have about seven hour left before we arrive in Daytona Beach. Everyone is very excited and ready to go. I'll update as soon as we get settled into our next hotel. Alrighty folks, the moment has arrived. Lizze and I have spent the last couple of days, scrambling to get everything we need for this trip of a life time. We ended up spending way more than we had planned because everyone needed new clothes. The positive side of this is that the clothes will last way longer than this trip and truthfully, we all desperately needed them. I'm not sure if it will impact the trip at all but it really shouldn't. It will however, impact life when we return home, but we'll figure it out. Maggie has been boarded and my Mom acclimated to the ferrets. ☺ For the most part, we are packed and need only to move everything to the van in the morning. We are waiting…

I didn't know this but apparently, there's a wish granting presentation that goes along with having a wish granted. I'm not entirely sure what that entails, but we're more than happy to be a part of it. The organization, Wishes Can Happen, will be coming to our house and presenting Gavin with a certificate, commemorating his wish. There will be other logistical things dealt with as well. This is my understanding of the process, and I admittedly have very little insight into this presentation. I think this is partly a PR thing and we're happy to help out in any way we can. If we get any pictures, I'll be sharing them.. ☺

I finally got the kids home from school today, both had great days by the way. Let me begin with a very honest statement. While I was holding out hope that we would figure everything out for this trip, it wasn't easy, especially when it came to the issues with getting a car to make the drive with. I heard back from Wishes Can Happen and they were able to workout a deal with Hertz for the rental car. It's pretty straight forward but more expensive, and it requires my Dad's help. In case anyone else ever runs into something like this, here's what we figured out. My Dad is going to rent the van in his name, and add me as a secondary driver. He will be reimbursed for…
