I really screwed the pooch on this one

I just realized I made a pretty major banking error. I was telling Lizze that we were doing much better this month than I thought we were. It didn't seem right but I checked, double and triple checked. This was very positive because it was going to help us get ready for our trip. As we were talking about it, my stomach sank because I realized why this had been bothering me. I paid a very large bill to a major utility and forgot about it. Between Gavin's medication change, planning for our trip and a major family emergency, I completely forgot. I had correctly tracked everything but that. For whatever reason, that payment hasn't posted yet and it's been quite a few days. I take full responsibility for this…

It’s been 14 years today

I'm super tired, no surprise I'm sure. This will be short and sweet, I promise. I wanted to take a minute and share that today is our fourteenth anniversary. Lizze and I have been married since 2003 and still going strong. Life hasn't always been perfect, and neither has our marriage. We've learned a great deal about ourselves and each other along the way. Being special needs parents isn't an easy job, and it takes one hell of a toll on a marriage. We've had to work extra hard to overcome these challenges. We've learned from our many mistakes and we'll continue to do so into the future. I'm so grateful to have been able to spend all these years with my best friend and I can't wait to spend…

More organized and efficient

Lizze and I spent a large part of the morning, organizing Gavin's IVIG supplies. There are so many supplies we've accumulated over the years. Wenneeded to get them organized and inventoried in order to have a better awareness of what we have. There were a ton of smaller supplies, like alcohol preps, obsites and needles.. We received a delivery of new supplies today and I organized all the new equipment into what is needed for each individual infusion. They're like little infusion kits, ready to go each Monday and Friday. It may not seem like a big deal but it took forever and it helps to keep everything better organized and efficient.

It’s stressful but exciting

We're aiming for a quiet day, after a long and emotional week. The only thing on the agenda aside from housework is possibly visiting Lizze's Dad at the hospital. We aren't sure if that will be a possibility or not, it depends on how he's doing when they finally wake him up. Assuming we can get someone to watch the boys, we like to spend some time at the hospital. As far as the house goes, we have to begin getting ready for our trip. I need to get Vivint out here to install the new panel and make sure everything's up to parent before we leave. I need to figure out something for the ferrets because they can't spend the entire time we're gone in their cage. They also…

Gavin is OFFICIALLY getting his wish granted

I received news tonight that we will officially be on our way to Florida at the end of the month. We've known for a little while that Gavin's wish was going to be granted, but we didn't know when we would be going for sure. People come from all over the world to stay at Give Kids the World. There were only a few slots open and we weren't sure we would be able to get in. We are now officially registered and our spot is reserved for us at the end of September.   The one big hang up that came up at the last minute had to do with transportation. They were going to rent us a car for the drive but we realized that we had to…

A major update about everything

It's already been a long day and an extra long week. Gavin and I just got home from grocery shopping today and we actually did pretty good. We ended up about six dollars under budget, and that's always a good thing. Gavin did pretty good as well. He did have a few episodes though but he's okay now. By episodes I'm referring things like vision problems and he popped both shoulders carrying a bag of ice. He seems to be doing fine now, and I'm grateful for that. Elliott's in a pre-teen kinda mood and it's frankly, a lot bit unpleasant. Emmett's doing okay but doesn't have a high tolerance for anything today. This means that he's very easily pushed over the edge. Needless to say, there's a lot of…

The house burned down

Our day hasn't gone as planned and for the most unusual reason. We woke up this morning to find the house across the street burning. It's been abandoned for awhile so no one was hurt. It's very likely to be arson, as there has been abandoned houses being torched around the city. We weren't even able to get the boys to school because we were surrounded by charged, four-inch lines. Both ends of the street were blocked off by trucks and ambulances. This all began around 3 AM this morning, and twelve hours later, they're now tearing the house down. We are finally about to drive down the street again. On a plus side, that house has brought nothing but trouble. It won't be missed in the slightest. I'm just…

This might be bad news, I’m not sure yet

Gavin spent the day with my Mom yesterday. Apparently, Gavin was experiencing some things that were concerning to him, and my Mom decided to sorta make a journal to keep track. It's entirely possible that these are unrelated to anything in particular. The list of his physical complaints included the following: Back pain Problems with his vision Leg pain (I think) There's more I believe but my brain is currently in overload and I can't remember the rest. It's really difficult to know what's what. These could all be random occurrences, and end up being nothing, or maybe they are signs of other things. None of what he was dealing with were new. Strictly speaking, these have all happened before. I'll get into more detail in the morning. For now,…
