Gavin having troubles

We are seeing what seems like a personality shift in Gavin.  We have are hands tied until we get the movement issues addressed but it is making me nervous. He is VERY easily agitated and very disrespectful. He is also not making much sense when he talks to us. I am concerned we have hit another period of regression. I am not sure how much more he can take. I am not sure how much more we can take either. We need answers.....

My Reality: Autism

On of the reasons I started this blog was to vent my frustrations and feelings in a safe place and be able to leave them there. The other reason I started this blog was to share my personal story with Autism and how it affects our lives. One of the things you will notice is that we are not dealing with the "as seen on tv" kind of Autism. While there is no such thing as a "typical" Autistic child you will find that in our case with Gavin he is a truly unique and complicated case. The other thing you will find is that my posts are darker and grittier. This is because I don't sugar coat anything. There is no benefit if I am not honest. I don't…

On the mend

It appears that with the exception of Lizze and I everyone is feeling better. Emmett and Gavin were only down for about 12 hours. Elliott was also down for about 12 hours. Lizze and I are going a bit longer most likely do to the fact we are getting no rest. The kids willl be back in school Tuesday and things will get back to "normal". I meant they come in 4’s

I think Lizze is the last one standing. I'm not feeling very well. Took something for the nausea so I can maybe push through this. It seems to be helping. With everyone vomiting all willy billy we have been washing sheets and blankets all day. Lizze just informed me the washer has stopped working and is making a buzzing sound. The barrel is full of water so I will have to drain it. We have also lost our wireless network due to a dead router. That may sound trivial but EVERYTHING was connected via wifi. Can't afford to replace it right now so I need to find the old one that is password locked and hardreset it so we can be all connected again. Elliott and Emmett seem to be…

They come in 3’s

Just got a call from Lizze's mom. Apparently Gavin vomited while at the store. I was really hoping he would be spared. Gavin is a really bad sick person. If he throws up just once he will make himself throw up for days. It's something that has developed over the years and it has become a problem. If his tummy hurts (even if he's there is no nausea) he will make himself throw up. We never know if he's actually sick or not. The other problem is he goes unmedicated during this time ands that's not good for him. We are in for a very long couple of days. These words are posted via Wordpress for Android

Fit 4 Autism Update

I wanted to update everyone on my Fit 4 Autism movement. As of today 10/31/2010 we have walked, ran, hiked and biked over 9890 miles. That is is an AMAZING accomplishment. The truly amazing part is that we only have about 12 active members right now. Think of what we could accomplish with many more people. I want to say special THANK YOU to my new friend in Europe for joing the cause and giving a a massive boost.  Thank you to everyone involved. I came up with the idea of ”Fit 4 Autism“ a few months ago. It’s kind of a play on word’s. However, it's way more then that. As special needs parents we need to be able to take care of our children for as long as possible. The…

Emmett John status update

Emmett John is our pre-verbal 2 year old little blessing. Emmett John has always struggled with communication. We are learning or trying to learn sign language. Emmett John has no way to communicate with us or us with him. It's honestly heartbreaking to watch him struggle. Lately we have been seeing more and more meltdowns. He is shrieking now when he gets upset and that's something new in the past few weeks. We have to get the earily intervention in place. Unfortunatly that will most likely require us to triage our kids. In other words we are going to gave to prioritize. We are going to focus our limited resources on those who will receive the most benefit. That is Elliott and Emmett. Thy have the brighest future. All the…
