Lizze's Doctors are backing disability. Lizze went to her neurologist this morning as I previously posted. The topic at the appointment turned to disability. This is something we haven't discussed with the doctors until today. Her doctors are in complete support of disability for Lizze. They said that her migraines alone would qualify her in their experience. However, factoring in the fibro and everything else she has to contend with, there is no way she could work. We even spoke to her shrink and she is behind this as well. The interesting part is that because we apparently did everything right along the way, it should make the process a whole lot easier. Lizze saw the very best doctors and the right ones for what she needed. She was diagnosed…

Chillin with the boys

Lizze has an appointment this morning with her neurologist (the one for her migraines). They are going to talk about her migraines and how they are getting worse. Hopefully they can figure something out to give her some relief from her migraines. They have discussed massage therapy before she needs a new order. We need to figure something out cause she doesn't deserve to be in constant pain. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Nexus S 4G with out the use of proper editing tools and auto-correct. The prize closet

Dr. Pattie has a prize closet full of cool stuff for the kids to pick from after each appointment. This is Gavin's favorite part of the session. In this picture, Gavin is choosing between 4 different Hot Wheel cars. These guys really look forward to these appointments. It's SO important for your kids to be comfortable with their therapist. It makes so many things easier. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Nexus S 4G with out the use of proper editing tools and auto-correct. Gavin behind the wheel of a cart

So I, on occasion, take Gavin to the grocery store. I do this when I have the energy and/or the time to keep up with him. He loves to push the cart but struggles with little things, like innocent people walking up and down aisle, the aisles themselves and of course me. It easily takes twice as long as it should but I'm hoping that practice makes perfect.....or at least better. Perhaps I'm a bad parent for saying this but based on his ability to push a cart around the grocery store, I can't imagine a day that he could get behind the wheel of a car. I believe Gavin is capable of many things, however, driving is not one of them.......at least for now.....or as long as I'm breathing.…

Gavin did great………again

Gavin did a great job today while getting his weekly bloodwork done. He barely even screamed. There was a little girl there and we wanted to make sure she was scared by any screaming. Great job Gavin, very proud of you. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Nexus S 4G with out the use of proper editing tools and auto-correct. Off to get Gavin’s bloodwork done

Gavin has his weekly bloodwork this afternoon as a result of the anti-psychotic clozapine.. There are going to be a few more vials drawn today then usual because the gastro is going to check for celiac markers and a few other things as well.  I suggested we wait to do this until today so that it could all be done in one stick instead of making him endure 2 separate blood draws. Gavin is still doing OK with the bloodwork. Although, lately he does add a bit of drama to the mix. However, we are light years ahead of where we were last year. It used to take up to 9 people to get the blood. It was very stressful for Gavin and everyone else involved. So great job Gavin…

Autism and those embarrassing moments

We all know that kids say the darnedest things. However, ASD kids can sometimes say the most inappropriate things you can imagine. It's not that they are mean, it's just a lack of filter.......thing.  I thought it could be fun to share some of these moments with each other. Maybe we can all feel a bit better about these sometimes, unavoidable moments. I'll go first.... A few years ago, we took Gavin to a Chinese buffet. Gavin walked up to the hostess, who was of Chinese decent (sorry if that's not politically correct) and told her that "all the people that work here look the same". I was horrified and didn't know what to say. Thankfully, there was a bit of language barrier and so I don't know that she…

The school search has begun

As you may or may not be aware of, we are in the process of having to locating 2 new schools. What's that you say? We already have enough on our plates?  Ding Ding, we have a winner. You are absolutely correct but we have little choice in the matter. Elliott's previous school has decided that they cannot educate a child with Autism. In a last ditch effort to try to talk to someone about it I sent a certified letter. My emails and phone calls have gone unreturned and my face to face attempts to talk to someone have been fruitless. The really frustrating part is that our hands are pretty much tied unless we move. Canton City Schools is our only choice right now and that school system…
