Someone was stabbed tonight

Disclaimer: Not for my younger readers. Graphic material is talked about. I'm sharing this as a means of trying to decompress from this event.   I got to be the old Rob for a little while tonight. Someone was stabbed right outside of my house about 45 minutes ago. I didn't even think about it, I just ran out, right into the middle of it. It's funny, well not really funny, especially if you ask Lizze (who isn't to happy with me right now) but I didn't miss a beat or hesitate. I was always the guy running into the places everyone else was running out of. I got a pair of gloves from the one of the cops and did what I trained to do....be a paramedic. I identified…

I’m co-hosting a new radio show for special needs parenting

Hey everyone I have some exciting news to share.  I'm going to be co-hosting a new radio show called Dad's Brigade along with my new friend and fellow special needs father, Josh Bauman. Our first show will be Thursday, September 15th, at 8pm EST. Dad's Brigade is part of Family Network Media which was founded by Susan Stephens in October 2010 and provides WebTV and Radio programming for the special need community. Josh and I are very much alike. He's a techy as am I but we are both special needs parents. You should check out his blog, Our Family of 4, and read his family's story, it's quite moving. Josh and I will be sharing many topics surrounding special needs parenting but from the perspective of a father. We have some pretty cool things…

Some much needed respite

My parents called today and wanted to know if we wanted to go visit some relatives out in Y-town.  Unfortunately,  we couldn't go because we need to replace the tires on the front end of the van. The other problem with it was that we simply weren't in a position to put gas in the car,  especially with all the excessive driving we have to do this week. However,  that didn't mean that the kids couldn't go. My parents took the boys and Lizze and I got to relax and bit.  Unfortunately,  my allergies are in overdrive right now,  probably cause of the rain last night and today.  I took some benadryl and doozed off for a bit. We really needed this break in order to have a better shot…

Podcasting

So I have been kicking around the idea of doing some podcasting since last year.  Nothing significant but maybe every once in awhile. Sometimes I find it easier and more time effective to record my thoughts,  rather the always write them down. Emmett’s sleeping over

So I went upstairs the other night to get ready for bed and this is what I find. I think it's pretty funny how both of them can sleep through this.  Emmett is laying on his back and across Lizze's face.  Naturally I had to take pictures of this as it was both cute and funny all at the smell time....... - Lost and Tired Posted by Wordpress for Android via Tegra 2 powered Motorola Photon 4G (provided to me at no charge by Sprint) without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. The week ahead = stress

This coming week will quite possibly be the worst week so far this year in terms of stress.  Elliott starts school on Tuesday and we still need to find a uniform shirt.  The same day,  Gavin has his second infusion therapy at Akron Children's Hospital at 10:00 am and will likely be sick for a day or so after.  On Wednesday,  Emmett has surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids.  Normally this is an out patient procedure but in Emmett's case, he will be admitted for a period of at least 24 hours to make sure he is okay. This is due in part to his age and his limited ability to verbally communicate.  During and after the surgery,  Gavin will still be recovering from the antibody infusion,  likely at…

In need of sanity

I'm in desperate need of sanity today. Emmett and Elliott are going at it and Gavin is just off today.  Lizze slept until about 10:30am this morning so that's good. The plan is to feed everyone lunch and get them off to their rooms for a nap.  Then daddy can crawl around the floor looking for all my lost marbles.  I don't hold out much hope of finding them but you never know ;-) - Lost and Tired Posted by Wordpress for Android via Tegra 2 powered Motorola Photon 4G (provided to me at no charge by Sprint) without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. Eight years ago

This time,  8 years ago,  we would have only been married a few hours.  I think we were actually out to dinner about right now. Alot has happened in the last 8 years.  So I guess it was kind of nice to have a quite day. Not a whole lot happened today. Lizze got her migraine medication via injection about 4 hours ago. She slept for a good while and woke up in time for dinner. The 4 of us are watching a movie and just kind of relaxing.  I believe most of Lizze's migraine is gone for now,  so that's a good thing.  Hopefully,  we can all get a good night's sleep.  We have a very difficult week ahead with hundreds of miles worth of driving and we need…
