Today’s Victory: 04/28/2012

Today's Victory is brought to you by all three Lost and Tired boys.  Typically,  I have a very difficult time getting the boys to eat their fruit or veggies. Today the boys ate fruit salad with their dinner.  We had mango,  apples, bananas, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.  Even Emmett got in on eating the fruit salad.  His favorite was the mango and he ate a few pieces. After the day I've had today,  this was a welcomed victory.  **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android

Elliott’s Lego Creation: 04/28/2012

This is Elliott's rendition of Link from the Legend of Zelda in Lego's. You'll also notice that Elliott's left eye has a yellow circle around it.  If you look closely,  you can see just how close he came to losing his eyes yesterday.  Bella went into hyper mode and jumped up on the couch not realizing Elliott was laying there.  She landed right on his face and he just happened to be in mid blink when it happened. He's very lucky. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android so please forgive any typos as auto-correct and I don't see eye to eye. :-)

Emmett’s Creation: 04/28/2012

Emmett wants to share his bling with all of you. A few months ago I bought these magnetic marbles and Emmett just loves them. Emmett doesn't put things like that in his mouth so I feel comfortable that he's safe with them. However,  we do supervise him anyway because we don't want to take any chances. Emmett's favorite thing to make with these magnets is his necklace.  He also has to have what he calls a shiny on his necklace as well.  The shiny is the little circle shaped thing that hangs down like a pendant. So there you have it.  Emmett and his bling. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store…

Go back to bed

I have been saying that for the past few hours now. Elliott has been up since just before 4am. I'm not sure why he's getting up this early.  I can't even see straight to type this right now. As long as one of the boys is awake,  so am I. Somethings got to give. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android so please forgive any typos as auto-correct and I don't see eye to eye. :-)

The Lighter Side of #Autism: 04/28/2012

Emmett decided that he wanted the trampoline out once again. He loves bouncing off access energy or just getting rid of some wiggles. After watching him in action, Bella has decided that she would like to follow in his foot steps. She has been spinning around and bouncing on the trampoline for most of the day. Emmett just thinks this is the coolest thing ever.... **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android so please forgive any typos as auto-correct and I don't see eye to eye. :-)

#Autism: When teachers are the bullies

I wanted to share this video with you all. This video is by a man named Stuart Chaifetz and is in response to to his son Akian being bullied by his teachers at school. This is so important to watch because Stuart is making this public in order to shine the spotlight on what is happening to kids with Autism while at school. Obviously not all teachers and schools are a problem but Stuarts story is not uncommon at all and that's really sad. Please watch and share this video and help Stuart in his quest to end bullying. He is handling this very, very well and with a great deal of tact and class, which is much more than these teachers involved deserve. I have crazy mad respect for Stuart…

What are your plans for summer break 2012

Every single school year for the Lost and Tired family ends the same way, with summer break. Despite our best efforts to prepare ourselves for this period of time that is any but a break,  we always end up a day late and a dollar short. What I mean is that our plans always seem to fall through and the summer just seems to drag on forever. When your dealing with kids with special needs,  despite how much you may enjoy having them home,  time slows to a crawl and your sanity,  patience and energy slowly erode away.  This often find myself driven to the very edge of sanity and then kicked out of the car while it's still moving,  leaving me stranded and trying to locate all my missing…

#Autism: The return of the weighted blanket

The weighted blanket has returned to every day use.  For the longest time,  Emmett refused to use his weighted blanket.  I'm not sure why he stopped wanting to use it but he did. However,  as quickly as he stopped using it,  he started using it again. For the last week or so,  he's been using his weighted blanket at night and nap times.  I'm not sure why he has chosen to use his blanket again but I wonder if it has anything to do with no longer having OT? It really seems to help him sleep and that's always a good thing. Do you folks have any stories to share about weighted blankets?  I would love to hear them. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join…
