Autonomic Crisis: Update 7/15/2012 (3pm)

Gavin will not be coming home today as previously thought.  He will however, be home tomorrow, assuming all goes well. He will be receiving an MRI,  either while there or as an outpatient. The current school of thought is that he has a stomach bug.  While they can't prove that,  they also can't rule it out either.  They believe,  at least in theory,  that this stomach bug set into motion a chain of events that ended with Gavin in an autonomic crisis.  It does explain everything in a nice neat package,  however,  I'm leaning towards not buying into this,  at least 100%. The reason I question this is because Gavin just had his antibody infusion and so his immune system should have been fully charged and ready to fight off…

Living in the moment

Seeing pictures of my boys snuggling and sleeping peacefully is quite deceiving.  Emmett has been screaming,  pretty much since the moment he woke up,  which incidentally, was really early. I sold my Vita on ebay and I was thinking about maybe, taking the boys to see the new Ice Age movie this morning.  I'm probably insane for even thinking that but I want the boys to have some fun.  These hospital stays are difficult on them as well.  Their schedule is thrown out the window and they haven't seen Lizze in like 4 days. They are worried about Gavin and miss him dearly. My thought is that the movie would be a nice distraction for Elliott and Emmett.  While they probably won't sit through the whole thing,  I owe it…

Reunited with my minions

Elliott and Emmett have been gone since yesterday morning. They arrived home an little while ago and wanted to squishy couch. I was so excited to see them as I really miss them when they are gone.  Both sets of Grandparents really helped us out and we are so grateful. As much as I need a break,  I always feel more complete with my boys home. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung's Galaxy S III. Autonomic Crisis: Update 07/14/2012 (8pm)

I spoke with Lizze a little while ago. Apparently,  the reason Gavin would leave tomorrow is because insurance will only pay for a 72 hour EEG.  He may be transfered to medical as a general neurology patient sometime Sunday. He's still having potty issues and they don't want him to dehydrate. Now I have no idea what's going on. I would rather him stay there if he needs to and we'll just have to figure everything else out later. If there is a chance of finding more answers then we need to allow for that chance.  Overall,  Gavin is doing better,  at least at this point. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play…

When good news is frustrating

The good news is that there is a chance that Gavin may come home tomorrow, if he continues to improve.  We have also learned that he has been cleared by the cardiologist.  So that means his heart is in good shape.  That's good news also. Gavin's fever has broken,  so he physically feeling better but sleeping most of the time. That's good news as well. When I make this next statement,  you have to understand how long we have been doing this. We have been on a search for answers to Gavin's mysterious health and mental health issue for the better part of a decade. This 10 year journey,  while absolutely worth it,  has come at a great cost to my family. The emotional,  physical and financial toll has been…

Operation E-Card!

This post is borrowed from my amazing wife's blog, www.dailymommysurvival.com. It was easier to just copy an paste. Hope you don't mind honey :-)   Alrighty ladies and gents, Gavin is slowly improving. His temp is down today (awesome!) and his heart rate is lower (yay!) so his blood pressure is going down as well. With all that said, we are still going to be here until Monday morning at 10am, at least. So, this is what I need y'all to do... If you go to the Akron Children's Hospital web site HERE you'll be able to send him an e-card. If you could take five minutes to send him an e-card it would really brighten his day because a volunteer comes to our room, knocks on the door and announces that "Gavin…

NEW Playstation Vita (WIFI only) Warranty, 32 GB memory card, game and Extras

Hey everyone. As many of you are aware, my oldest of 3 special needs children has been the hospital the past few days. The commuting back and forth between the hospital and home to be with our other 2 boys is very expensive. In order to help cover the expenses, I'm selling my brand new PlayStation Vita. I have had one for awhile and had to swap it out under warranty. Best Buy didn't have one in stock so they put the full amount on a gift card and allowed me to pick this one up at another store. I did so yesterday for the purposes of sticking it up on ebay. The auction includes the following: 1) New Playstation Vita (wifi) ($250) 2) 2 year accidental damage protection through Best Buy ($70) 3)…

Autonomic Crisis: Update 07/14/2012 (10am)

I'm finally awake enough to string two coherent thoughts together. I just spoke to Lizze again and Gavin is doing better,  in some regards. His fever appears to have finally broken and his heart rate and blood pressure are both lower. However,  he's having, um, tummy issues. I need to go buy him new underwear because he has gone through every pair he owns. They aren't worth trying to save and that's all I'll say. We are still waiting on some labs to come back.  Hopefully,  while we wait, he doesn't slide backwards. I'm going to try to get some sleep so that I can safely make the trip back to Akron Children's Hospital.  I shouldn't be driving right now.  ;-) **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired…
