The #Autism Meet and Greet

Lostandtired.com has become very popular.  There thousands of visits to my site each and every day.  I'm really proud of that and I also grateful. However, I haven't had the pleasure or honor of meeting many of you. I would like that to change. You all know about me and my family but I don't know anything about many of you folks.  I would really like it if you would take a second and introduce yourselves.  Maybe share something about your story.  I know it's not always easy to do that but I think it would go a long way towards bolstering the community here. I think of us all as one giant extended family.  We all aim to help each other,  whether here on the blog or inside the…

Hoarse

Emmett is having another rough morning. He has screamed himself hoarse again. I don't know what's up with him but something surely is.  He's been asking to go to a movie for the past few days. Lizze and I are going to take him to see a $1 movie this afternoon before picking the boys up from school. I don't expect to make it through the whole movie but maybe this will help to change the direction for the rest of the day.  This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Behavioral Update: 9/12/2012

I like to give credit where credit is due.  This time the credit goes to Gavin. All day yesterday,  he made good choices and aside from a few little hiccups, he really did do well. Thank you Gavin for working so hard..... This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Please forgive any typos. I do know how to spell but auto-correct hate me. Let’s talk gas prices and their impact on your family

We had to put gas in the van today and I about stroked out.  Gas has hit $3.99 a gallon in Canton Ohio. I think it goes without saying that when your a special needs family, this is of major concern. How do you get to all the necessary appointments if you can't afford gas? This is absolutely insane. Someone needs to do something about this. It's really sad when we get excited about $3.00 a gallon gas prices. How are things in your neck of the woods? How do the gas prices affect your ability to meet your children's needs? Have you found a way to help take the edge off? This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Please forgive any typos. I…

Just kill me now

Today has gone down hill rapidly.  I spent the afternoon dealing with some issues with my company.  After 10+ years in business,  I think we are going to have to shut it down. The thought of that makes me sick.  Emmett has been screaming for the last 30l minutes.  We're in the waiting room at Dr. Patti's and Emmett is still screaming because he couldn't find his ball before we had to leave.. Lizze and I have been taking turns with him outside so as not to disturb everyone else in the building. My head is pounding and I'm pretty much overwhelmed and drowning in stress.  It's going to be a $5 pizza tonight because I just don't have the energy to cook after today. Do you ever have one…

His beautiful mind

I am so completely amazed with how Elliott's beautiful mind works.  I've mentioned before about Elliott’s fascination with Portal 2. Personally,  I think this is a fantastic game for Elliott due to the extremely challenging puzzles.  However,  Elliott is now creating his own levels and there actually working levels. This is not easy to do because you have to plan out every single move and be able to think several steps ahead or the level will be broken.. He actually figuring out the software needed to construct and test these levels.  Once they are in good shape,  he can publish them to the Steam servers for anyone to download and play.  We are having so much fun and I'm so incredibly proud of him.  Maybe he will become a game…

The super tooth

Elliott just arrived home from the dentist and it's fair to say he's traumatized. There was a cavity forming where the tooth was broken. They had to drill that out but Lizze said the dentist was amazing with Elliott. ;) Turns out that Elliott broke his tooth opening his sippy with his teeth. He apparently never thought to let us know. Anyway, they drilled out the cavity and capped the tooth until it falls out at some point in the future. The dentist told him it was a special Batman tooth. Whatever works, right? The one thing that he kept focused on was coming home and building his own levels and puzzles in Portal 2. He's super psyched. Once again I have to say, whatever works. Elliott wanted to see…

Is there a game or TV show your child loves but you hate?

Emmett and I are hanging out this morning. So far we have built Portal guns out of Lego's, watched Phenias and Ferb and now we are playing a game on the computer while he eats a snack. We're playing Sonic Generations and I can't stress enough how much I hate Sonic the freaking Hedgehog. Gavin killed it for me when he was younger. He became totally obsessed with everything Sonic the Hedgehog. All he endlessly talked about was Sonic and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Having said that, the boys love Sonic, so I just grit my teeth and bare it. So....with that in mind, is there a game or TV show that your child loves but you can't stand? Please share with the class.. ;)…
