UPDATE: My son with #Autism ate raw chicken because that’s just how our life is

If you miss the first part of this story, please click here to get caught up.  I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It really means a great deal to us and speaks volumes about the amount of love and compassion that's still in the world today.  It's been about twenty hours since Gavin accidently ate raw chicken and so far, he seems to be doing okay.  Franky, I hate to even say that out loud a use I don't want to jinx it. Having said that, we feel a sense of guarded relief that things are still going well. Hopefully, this will continue as we move forward.  Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers.... ☺

PLEASE keep Gavin in your thoughts and prayers for the next few days

The boys and I went to Walmart yesterday, and picked up some groceries. Right now they're into eating chicken, so we stocked up on chicken beast, chicken tenders and things like that.  At dinner tonight, Gavin wanted to make himself some chicken tenders. He took a couple large ones from the bag and heated them up in the microwave. He's capable of using the microwave or toaster oven.  After he was done, I put some in the air fryer for Emmett and as I was putting the bag back in the freezer, I noticed that the bag said ready to cook, raw chicken.  As soon as I saw that, I ran into the other room to stop Gavin. I yelled at him to stop eating..  When I looked at his…

The potty dance has returned

My day has gotten back on track. Unfortunately, I needed a nap for that to happen.   Gavin and I are currently waiting for Lizze to be done with an appointment before we run a few errands. I'm noticing that Gavin is obviously having bladder issues because he's dancing around the backseat, in what's known as potty dance.  He hasn't said anything to me about it yet and I'll wait for him to say something because he's seems to be trying to work through it.  Anyway, that's about it for now.. ☺

Compulsive Questions

Gavin is driving me absolutely crazy. He keeps asking me questions and I haven't been awake long enough to be able to cope with that just yet.  I swear to God he's thinking of random questions, just so he can follow me around and ask them.  Unfortunately for me, it seems like Gavin is in one of those places where he's compulsively asking questions. There's no rhyme or reason for what he's asking and that makes it exceptionally annoying..

Poor Gavin’s having some problems

Gavin's not been feeling well lately. It's really strange because it's seemingly random and what doesn't feel well is also. He's complaining about reflux, stomach aches, headaches and pain in his calf. He never seems to have them all together but instead, one at a time. There's no rhyme or reason for these ailments and there isn't much that we can do to help him. Last night he had reflux but woke up in the middle of the night feeling better in one way but worse in another because a stomach ache crept in to take the place of his reflux. So far, he's feeling better and has no complaints.  Hopefully, it stays that way.

1 big problem we had with Gavin’s IVIG infusion today

I mentioned in an earlier post that Gavin has some problems with his IVIG infusion this morning. It was actually more of a problem during his infusion and not really with the infusion itself.  Normally, he sits in the same place on the same couch and plays the same game on the Xbox or his tablet, to help pass the time.   Today however, his bladder issues hit him really hard. He was unable to sit down without having to get up and race to the bathroom.  It got so bad that we had him stay in his bedroom for the duration because his room is right across from the bathroom and he wouldn't have to keep taking the steps.  That threw him off because he's very particular about the…

The 2 things that made Gavin’s day so awesome

On a pretty cool note, Gavin's having a great afternoon. We did his IVIG infusion first thing in the morning. That gets it out of the way and makes sure that nothing comes up that could interfere. He slept off his morning meds and then went to lunch with my Dad. He wanted to take Gavin out to lunch for his birthday. They were out of town last week and so today worked out for everyone. After lunch, my Dad took him along and let Gavin help him on a job. My Dad owns a painting company and loves having the kids along sometimes to help out.  ☺ I should mention that there were some problems during the infusion but I'll explain that later. Overall, I think Gavin's had an…

3 things that have me very worried about my son

It's been a long weekend for The Autism Dad family. The boys are struggling in the sleep department and subsequently, so am I.  I've been too tired to write as frequently as I like to. As my first post of the week, I want to make sure that bring you up to speed on some things going on with Gavin that have me very worried. The following concerns are not in any particular order. Gavin's memory is getting worse. It used to be just his short term memory that was problematic but even his long term memory is beginning to suffer. In fact, his short term memory is getting even worse than it's been. He's now struggling with very simple, one step tasks and is often unable to complete them…
