At least I was able to provide him with comfort

It was a long night because Emmett wasn't feeling well and couldn't fall back asleep, after waking up. The only way Emmett was able to fell asleep last night was by climbing into our bed and gluing himself to my left arm. I've never been a back sleeper and so I was very uncomfortable but at the same time, happy to actually be able to help him find comfort. ☺ Thankfully, everyone was doing better this morning and both boys made it to school without much in the way of problems. I'm pretty tired and will be sticking close to home in order to get some work done today, before the boys get home from school. My goal is to make it through the day without needing to take a…

He woke up freaking out

A little while ago, Emmett woke up freaking out. We couldn't even talk to him without him screaming. I'm guessing it was a nightmare and he wasn't fully awake. That's not all that uncommon for Mr. Emmett. We ended up convincing him to move downstairs. This way he wouldn't wake anyone else up. Currently, we have him mostly calmed down and watching Max Steel. Hopefully, this will be enough to settle him down and get him back to bed. We'll see what happens.. 🙁

Emmett did a great job

Emmett got off to school this moring without any major problems. We had to swing by Walgreens and pick up a few things for his lunch, before dropping him off at school. He actually did a great job of picking his things out. Historically, Emmett doesn't do well with making decisions, especially when there's a time limit. He didn't have any major issues making his choices and we were off to school, with his lunch in tow.. ☺

Tonight’s meltdown just about pushed me over the edge

We lived through a massive Emmett meltdown this evening. This particular meltdown was in regards to his dinner and it was a doozy, as well as being partly my fault. Emmett is very sensitive when it comes to food. He has major sensory related issues that make feeding him very challenging because the menu of foods that he'll eat is very limited. I was making him and Elliott dinner last night. They both wanted corndogs. The corn dogs have to be cooked a certain way, or Emmett won't eat them. First, we have to microwave it for thirty seconds, no more no less. If the crust cracks, he won't touch it so we have to be careful. After the microwave, the corn dog goes into the air fryer for seven…

This morning was stressful AF

We spent all morning listening to Emmett screaming. If he wasn't screaming about one thing, he was screaming about another. It's not the best way to start out the day. I've no idea why he was so out of sorts this morning, but it was awful. He did get off to school with Elliott but when we got to school, he realized he forgot his lunch. After I go for my walk, I'll have to make a return trip to the school to drop off his lunch. At this point, I'm so stressed out and I'm hoping a good walk will be just what the doctor ordered, in more ways than one.

Problems with lunch

We had a lunch issue today with Emmett. When Lizze packed his lunch this morning, she packed him cold pizza (the only thing he would eat in his lunch for years), apple sauce, yogurt, jello and a juice. In the way to school, Emmett informed her that he no longer eats cold pizza. I've known about this on and off for a few months but had really been an issue until school started back. Anyway, after walking this morning, I went and bought a couple packages of poptarts. If he'll eat that and the rest of his lunch, he'd be in good shape. The few flavors he will eat weren't available at the time and so I guessed. I dropped off one package of Strawberry flavored and one package of…

Emmett’s MAJOR victory

My parents sent Lizze and I to Outback for dinner on my birthday. It was amazing and we are so grateful for the time away. While lunch was awesome, I couldn't finish it. I brought home about 20 oz of a 24 oz ribeye steak in a take home box. Emmett has been into beef lately, but only under certain conditions. Those conditions seem to be in flux all the time but I thought I would offer him some steak and see if he'd at least try it. Over the next two days, Emmett ate every last piece of that 20 oz ribeye, all by himself. I was thrilled that he ate that because it's different than what he normally eats and that feels good to see. ☺ I wish…

It seems like the right thing to do

Lizze and I have decided to keep the boys home from school tomorrow. They're going to be a mess and there's no benefit to sending them. They will be going to my parents house for the afternoon. That's not going to take the pain away but they will be much more comfortable there than at school. This is going to be hard on everyone and knowing the boys will be with my parents is a comfort. I don't know if this is the right decision but it seems like the right thing to do.
