A major update about Gavin’s health and where we go from here
Today was really rough for Mr. Gavin. He can't ride in the car for very long at all, without feeling like he's going to have an accident. This is the worst it's ever been, by a long shot. I was able to get ahold of his prescribing doctor and we are to immediately drop him down to his previous dose, beginning Thursday (tomorrow) morning. This means we are back down to 600mg of Clozapine a day. We aren't going to stay there though. After running 600mg for seven days, we will begin to increase by 50mg per week for the next four weeks. The idea behind this is that perhaps if we bring him back down and then slowly bring him back up, the side effects might not be so…

Gavin’s really struggling with these side effects and it’s heartbreaking
We've got to figure something out with these bladder issues because they are now constant and very rarely ever let up on him. Poor Gavin keeps apologizing for having to go to the bathroom over and over and over again. I keep telling him that it's not his fault and he needn't apologize for it because there's nothing to apologize for. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to leave Gavin behind when I went to get the kids from school because Lizze has class today and would likely have to leave before I got back. Gavin’s not doing well
It's been a difficult couple of days for Gavin. It's safe to say that the increase in Clozapine has significantly increased the side effects he had begun suffering from about two years ago. Gavin's been struggling with what presents itself as bladder issues. He's constantly running back and forth to the bathroom, without having to actually go. He has the overwhelming urge to go and while sometimes he does indeed have to go, most of the time it's a false alarm. We're having many almost accidents and Gavin is absolutely miserable because he can't go anywhere without this interfering. This isn't a bladder infection because he's been tested and cleared many times. Unfortunately, this is a very rare but documented side effect of Clozapine and is apparently more prominent if…

Today officially begins our last ditch effort to help relieve Gavin’s schizophrenic symptoms
For the final time, Gavin will have his Clozapine dose bumped up today. He will once again be at 800mg a day and this will be the last time it will ever be increased. So far, we haven't seen any improvements but hopefully, this next increase will make a difference. Unfortunately, while there hasn't been any improvement, there has been a worsening of the side effects he's already been experiencing. With this next bump, it's a pretty safe bet that things are only going to get worse. I'm actually really nervous about making this change because there's no going back. Day 2 of 700mg of Clozapine
Today is the second day that Gavin has been on 700mg of Clozapine per day. I'm going to be very honest and say that I'm not really seeing anything significant, one way or the other. It's only been two days, so obviously we'll need more time to sorta flesh some of this stuff out. Having said that, the positive thing is that we haven't seen any of his current side effects getting any worse. For right now, I'll take that and run with it. Next week we're going to make the second and final bump. As of next Monday, he will begin taking 800mg of Clozapine per day, once again.
