It breaks my heart every single day

After taking the boys to school, we will return home for a short while before heading to Akron Children's Hospital. Lizze will be staying home cause she has a doctor's appointment of her own.  Gavin and I will be making the trek to see his eye doctor, in order to figure out why he's having vision blackouts.  There's a shitload of construction and I'm going to have to find an alternative route to the hospital, but I'll let Google handle that for me.  I'm praying this appointment goes well because on a purely selfish note, I really can't take anymore bad news in regards to Gavin's health. It breaks my heart every day to see him go through all he goes through.  As bad as this sounds, I'm hoping that…

Here’s the good news

I wanted to let you all know how Gavin's eye appointment went today. The reason he was going, aside from needing his glasses prescription stronger, is that he's having vision problems that can't be fixed with glasses. Before he went, I had him write down all the problems he's experiencing, so he can make sure to tell the doctor.  Check out the list he made.  Lizze and my Mom took him today because I was dealing with the A/C repair guy.  Gavin shared this list of concerns with the doctor, but she didn't seem concerned. That makes me a little concerned because he losing his vision seems like a pretty big deal. Physically his eyes checked out, although he needs stronger glasses.  He does have an appointment at Akron Children's…

You won’t believe what the worst part of the eye appointment was for my son with #Autism

It's been such a long day and I'm sure you're all surprised to hear that I'm exhausted. I feel like I've been on the go for most of the day and spent all my remaining energy along the way. 😁  For this entry, I'm going to focus on Emmett's eye appointment. The rest can wait until later on.  The long and short of it is, Emmett's appoint went well. Emmett did a great job, especially considering how long we were at Akron Children's Hospital today. Emmett did great with the eye drops that dilated his eyes, and great with all the lights shone in his eyes during the exam.  All the things one would think he would struggle with, he did great.  That being said, there was one area he…

Off to physical therapy at @AkronChildrens

Emmett, Elliott and I are going to be on our way to physical therapy at Akron Children's Hospital. Emmett gets 45 minutes of therapy a week and it really is a positive thing.  It sucks that I have to pull him out of school early but the benefits far outweigh the price of admission.  I anticipate a really positive session with his amazing PT. 😀

Emmett kicked butt at his eye appointment today

Emmett and I just got back into town, picked up Gavin and will be getting Elliott from school in a few minutes. Emmett's eye exam went great and he only needed a mild adjustment to his prescription. The doctor said his glasses will essentially remain unchanged. Something that's a little different this time is that Emmett wanted transition lenses because of his sensitivity to light. Unfortunately, those aren't covered by insurance and I had to pay for them out of pocket but he's so excited about them that I'm not even worried about the unexpected expense.  Insurance covered a cheap pair of glasses that he can use as a backup pair and his transition ones will be his daily drivers..  I never really new how much the light really bothered…

We made it to Akron Children’s Hospital with a few minutes to spare

Traffic was horrible today on the way to the hospital this morning. HORRIBLE.  That being said, we made it to his appointment with a few minutes to spare. 😀 Emmett's being very brave, even though he's really nervous about getting his eyes dilated.  He's so sweet and the nurse is so good with him.  His little voice is shaking and you can tell he's on the verge of crying but he's holding it together like a champ.  ❤️😀👍

Emmett did some new things in Physical Therapy this week   ***Check out the pics***

I wanted to try to get caught up on back posts and thought this would be a fun one.  One of my favorite things to do during the week is take Emmett to physical therapy. Not only is his therapist really awesome but Emmett responds to her very well. He totally kicks butt every time he goes. This kid gives 150% every single time he's tasked with a challenge at physical therapy and just never gives up. ❤️👍😀 Here's a few pictures from this weeks session.
