Okay people, I'm challenged with going grocery shopping for my special needs family of five, for the next week. While grocery shopping for kids with Autism and  sensory issue is difficult to begin with doing it with a budget of only $15 is, dare I say, impossible. That's the challenge facing me today. We have to come up with a grocery list that will feed my family of five for a week, on only $15. Yes, that's what it's come to at this point. I would like to spend some time today focusing on how someone could help a special needs family. It's probably safe to say that each families needs might be different. While I'm not proud of this, my family needs all the help that we can get, from whomever is willing to offer it.  This very likely applies to many other families as well.  What I would like to do is help others to better understand the kind of things that could help families with special needs kids.  There are always people willing to help, they just might not know how to.  The truth is, at least in my experience, most special needs families don't want to burden anyone else with their problems. As I wake up this morning to Emmett melting down and a million others things weighing pretty heavy on me,  I find myself once again losing hope.  I'm not the kind of person that ever just gives up, especially when it comes to my family.  At the same time however, I'm truly losing hope that things will ever get better.  I've been working on things that I'm not at liberty to share just yet, that should greatly increase my family's quality of life and at the same time, benefit the Autism Community as well.  Unfortunately, I just do the know if any of this is ever really going to work itself out.  I'm staring into the barrel of a debt collectors gun and there's nothing I can do.  That said,…

While we were running around on Tuesday afternoon, Emmett and I had an interesting conversation.  He has informed me that he will  only longer ride in the car until I fix the cracks in the windshield. I explained that we didn't have the money to replace the windshield at the moment and it wasn't something that he should be worried about. His suggestion to me was that I should take a hammer and bust the windshield out completely. Then I'll have no choice but to fix it.. I love his logic. I'm kinda at a loss as to what today was like.  The report from the teachers doesn't really make much sense and to be honest, I can barely read it.  Gavin says that he got frustrated while at school but didn't really elaborate to much. He's smart enough to know that the less we know, the better off he is.  Regardless, it's looks to be a largely positive day for Gavin.  I believe that he was tired in morning but nothing too bad. No chest pain or catastrophic meltdowns or tantrums.   I'm very comfortable calling this a winning day for Gavin, once again. So Gavin came home from school today, super excited to show us a picture he drew for Dr.Patti, while at school today. This will probably come as a shocker but its a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog. Anyway, he's really proud of it and its nice to see him doing something constructive. I wish he would do more drawing and writing. Here's my plan with this post.  Not only do I think this would be an interesting conversation but I can be an educational one as well.  It would be really cool to share our individual experiences with food proclivities and our kids on the Autism Spectrum. Maybe your kids do just fine, maybe not.  I think that it could be beneficial to see how the other half lives. The original plan was that Lizze was going to rest until it was time for her appointment and then drive herself.  Emmett's not tolerating the car very well anymore and this would have helped to avoid the meltdown that would very likely ensue as a result. Unfortunately, Lizze is in absolutely no position to to even consider getting behind the wheel of our car. As I'm writing this, Emmett is freaking out and I'm very aware of how the rest of the trip is going to go. :-( Thankfully I got one of these (picture below) in the mail on the way out the door and I'm able to get Emmett something to eat....... for free.  :-) Now we're just sitting here waiting for Lizze to come out of her…
