Gavin’s Artwork: Sonic

So Gavin came home from school today, super excited to show us a picture he drew for Dr.Patti, while at school today. This will probably come as a shocker but its a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog. Anyway, he's really proud of it and its nice to see him doing something constructive. I wish he would do more drawing and writing. Nice job Gavin, I'm sure Dr. Patti will love it. :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. #Autism Discussions: Does your food touch?

Here's my plan with this post.  Not only do I think this would be an interesting conversation but I can be an educational one as well.  It would be really cool to share our individual experiences with food proclivities and our kids on the Autism Spectrum. Maybe your kids do just fine, maybe not.  I think that it could be beneficial to see how the other half lives. If your on the Autism Spectrum yourself, I would love some insight.  We can start by simply answering the following question as honestly as possible.  Does your food touch? Would you believe we had a change of plans?

The original plan was that Lizze was going to rest until it was time for her appointment and then drive herself.  Emmett's not tolerating the car very well anymore and this would have helped to avoid the meltdown that would very likely ensue as a result. Unfortunately, Lizze is in absolutely no position to to even consider getting behind the wheel of our car. As I'm writing this, Emmett is freaking out and I'm very aware of how the rest of the trip is going to go. :-( Thankfully I got one of these (picture below) in the mail on the way out the door and I'm able to get Emmett something to eat....... for free.  :-) Now we're just sitting here waiting for Lizze to come out of her…

Today’s battles are just beginning

I just left a message at Lizze's neurologists office, inquiring as what in the world could possibly be holding her med refills up.  Hopefully we'll hear something back today. All I know is that our pharmacy has been leaving them messages and no one is returning the phone calls and no prior authorization has been submitted. This is really frustrating especially in the case of her Lyrica. I think that those of you with fibromyalgia understand that if you find a medication that helps, you can't go without it because you risk losing all the progress you've made. I want to make sure that there isn't a drop in communication somewhere. The only way to find out, is to find out. Update: As I was writing this post, I heard…

Sometimes a challenge can be fun…..right?

After a fitful nights sleep, Tuesday has gotten off to a pretty good start.  Emmett's in a good mood and most importantly, the boys got off to school on a good foot. Whenever the boys get up, ready and off to school without a problem, it's considered a good start to the day. Now I have to get Emmett to my parents and Lizze to her first appointment today. We've already killed our gas budget for the month, so we're on an 8th of a tank we got to make that last until Thursday. Obviously, this will be quite a challenge but sometimes a challenge can be fun.......right? This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Can you spot the victory here?

Okay,  so here's how this works.  I'll show you a picture and you tell me what the victory is. This will test your knowledge of Autism and Sensory Processing issues.  It's also a great way to see just how you know about the Lost and Tired Family.  Buckle up. Look at the picture and tell me what you see. This is Emmett's dinner plate that he put together himself. Please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers

I wanted to take a few minutes and let you all know what's going on with Lizze.  To put things simply, she's not doing good at all and I'm really, really worried. Not only is she dealing with a excruciating migraine that has been with her for the last 1.5 years +, she's got fibromyalgia, hypersonic, two bad knees, PTSD and severe depression coupled with extreme anxiety. Unfortunately, to make things unimaginably more difficult, she's also in menopause. Lizze is 32 years old. This whole menopause thing is completely new to me and I'm completely overwhelmed by, which is really sad because she's the one going through it.  They say that some women go through menopause with relative ease and others, not so much.  Well, Lizze apparently falls into the…

I’m so proud of my kids

I'm always proud of my kids, aways.  However, I'm even prouder, if that's possible, because they did awesome at the cookout. All three of them did absolutely awesome.  We had a small snafu with Gavin but he actually did a really good job keeping himself under control.  We went off by himself and cooled off.  There were of course consequences for his previous actions but he dealt with them and didn't throw a tantrum.  Great job Gavin.  :-) Like I told Gavin today,  we all make mistakes.  It's what we do after them that really matters.  While no part of me even remotely believes Gavin's learned a lesson, the fact that he opted not to freak out, is a victory in and of itself.  We all had a really good…
