Goodbye school. Hello Summer……

In just a few hours, I will be driving the  oys to school for the last time this school year. It's been a long road but one that was well worth the journey. Gavin made it through the year, despite having all kinds of health related issues. Elliott conquered many fears this school year and ended up having a fantastic year.  His year was filled with new friends and tons of learning.  I'm so proud of both boys and I can't wait to have a summer filled with fun and adventure.  What are your summer plans? Taking Emmett to the grocery store is always educational

Emmett's not been feeling well lately.  He's been hitting these fever cycles again, for the first time this year.  Because of the mouth sores, he's been eating lots of Popsicles and a bit of ice cream.  All these things help to numb his mouth and provide him with relief from the pain. He was having a really, really bad day and so I decided to take him with me to the grocery store to pick up a few odds and ends.  I'm so proud of him because he didn't really develop the gimmes while we were there.  He also helped me to pick out fresh fruit and he even scanned the items in the self checkout aisle, all  you himself.  He did awesome and I'm super proud of him. I…

How about a few updates

I've got a few updates to share with you all.  Due to the bad weather, Summit Academy has modified their field day for today and tomorrow.  Everything is now being done inside the school and so there is not going to be crazy amounts of activities that would put Gavin's autonomic stability at risk.  As a result, Gavin will be attending his last day of school.  This is a good thing because tomorrow is awards day.  :-) I mentioned in an earlier post about my epic parenting fail. I had a long talk with Elliott and he's very understanding and was very quick to forgive our absence at his martial arts demo yesterday. I suppose that means that I can also forgive myself.  :-) On a sad and much more…

Do your kids ever drive you crazy

Gavin is driving me crazy. There I said it. He's talking constantly and I think that my head might actually explode. I have grown to completely hate Sonic the Hedgehog and every single mention of his name. Anymore, this is all he ever talks about. I totally realize that Sonic is something really important to Gavin. Having said that, I can only take so much. I miss being able to talk with him about other things. He's become consumed with Sonic and it influences just about every aspect of his life. It's made worse by the fact that the other two boys try to be just like their big brother. They like what he likes and talk about the things that he likes to talk about. It's like being annoyed…

My Epic Parenting Fail

Sometimes there are moments as a parent, at least for me, where I know I totally fail my kids.  This is never intentional but that doesn't make it better.  Yesterday was one such day. I totally let Elliott down and I hate myself for that. With everything that has transpired in the last week and Gavin's infusion yesterday, I totally forgot Elliott's martial arts demo.  He never said a word about this yesterday until something happened that had him reacting in such a way that we knew something else was going on. During this emotional episode yesterday, Elliott let it slip that we missed his martial arts demo.  He said that he was the only kid in his class that didn't have a parent there.  As I share this epic…

What it feels like to be investigated by Child Protective Services

I keep hearing from people that they're able to relate to us because they themselves have been victims of a spite call  to Child Protective Services. While it saddens me that this seems to be so wide spread, it's also nice to have people that can relate as well. I'm not really sure how to address this problem but I think that talking about it is a start.  It's never a bad thing to create dialog and discuss something that is of concern. In my opinion, this definitely qualifies as something of concern. For those of you tardy to the party, CPS was called by someone who's identity is a mystery.  This mystery person, reported that my wife and I aren't providing our kids with medical care.  Essentially, they are…
