The project I’ve been working on: GPS Tracking for kids with #Autism

I wanted to share with you all the project I was working on last week.  This is a demo video for GPS Personal Solutions.  This is the company I helped start and have been working with for the last 2 years.  This is a remake of the original demo that was narrated by someone else that didn't speak English as a primary language. It was very difficult to understand and it was almost 20 minutes long. I cut out the fat and left only the meat or really important parts.  Then I recorded my voice and swapped out the audio.  This is what the result was.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft6LBYGS_tc&feature=youtube_gdata_player This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My…

Why #Autism Awareness is still broken in 2013

A couple years ago, I wrote a story on Why Autism Awareness is Broken. This was actually one of my more popular articles and it garnered a lot of attention. I wanted to follow up with my thoughts on how things are going with Autism Awareness in 2013 and what I think we could do to make the most out of this coming Autism Awareness Month. I'm not claiming to be an expert and these opinions are that of my own. As a father to three boys with Autism, I have a vested interest in helping to make Autism Awareness work. These are a few of my thoughts. For starters, I feel like nothing much has changed since I last wrote about this topic. My thoughts still go to all…

Life Before Autism: Can you even remember that?

I was chatting with people on the Lost and Tired Facebook page about #Autism related parenting stuff. The conversation got me thinking and I wondered if anyone can relate? I have a hard time remembering what life was like before Autism. I know I wasn't always an Autism Dad but it feels like it at times. Can any of you relate to this or is it just me? Gavin was a big help

I sent Lizze to bed around 5pm yesterday because she wasn't feeling well. It was just me and the boys for dinner.  Things could have gone very badly but instead, everything went pretty well.  Gavin was a big help with things around the house.  I find him perplexing because there are some things that he can do really well and yet he can't figure out how to do something and simple as unlock the front door.  Either way, I'm grateful for all his help and I was sure to tell him how much I appreciated him. Hopefully things will go as well today as they did yesterday. My hair is gone and my beard is grey

When I wake up in the morning, Saturday August 24th, 2013, I'll have reached my 35th year of life. This is a milestone of sorts because from this point on, I will be closer to 40 than 30. I don't know how I really feel about this.  My life, in its current form, was never on my radar when I was younger. You probably don't know this but my career goal was working for the FBI, as a criminal profiler. That's actually what I went to college for.  I also wanted a family and to be both a husband and a father. While my law enforcement ambitions never came to pass, becoming a husband and father certainly have.  As is with most people,  I never envisioned myself as a special…

Tough day for Lizze

Lizze is having an exceptionally difficult day today.  This has been a pretty stressful week and it's basically taken its toll on her.  Most of her chronic health issues are exacerbated by stress. Unfortunately, Special Needs parenting comes with its share of stress.  I sent Lizze to bed early and after hanging out with the boys for awhile, I'm putting them to bed. Not to jinx myself but it's been a smooth evening thus far.  Elliott even wanted to clean his room.  That's right, he wanted to clean his room. I'm just gonna roll with it and be grateful for the pleasant evening we had together.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My…

I’m so incredibly honored to have @hollyrpeete following me

I'm really excited today because Holly Robinson Peete (@hollyrpeete) is now following me on Instagram and she's only following like 200 people. For those that don't know, Holly is big in the Autism Community and has her own Autism foundation.  She started following me on Twitter awhile ago and that was equally awesome.  I consider this to be a total honor.  I guess I must be doing something right.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me
