The appointment that didn’t happen

I mentioned yesterday that Emmett was supposed to have a checkup on Tuesday with his pediatrician.  That appointment didn't happen and here's why. This particular appointment would have been accompanied by a vaccine and Emmett and Elliott both, seem to be fighting a cold.  Our pediatrician will not vaccinate if the kids are even remotely under the weather.  He's very conservative and it's one of the reasons we like him so much. Anyway, we would have had to make a second trip to finish up the appointment and it made more sense to simply reschedule.  Plus, Elliott and Gavin both need checkups as well and this way we can schedule them all at the same time.  Getting everything done in one trip makes a great deal more sense than making…

The boys are awesome at school but there’s a hitch

The boys had another good day at school. There are a few things that Lizze and I have to address with the school. It's more of a clarification than anything else.  Elliott is upset because he's been eating lunch alone. He claims that he's not allowed to eat with the kids that are buying their lunches, simply because he's packing his.  Now I know that they separate the kids with food allergies but this sounds different and I need clarification, as ton what's happening.  It may be a simple misunderstanding. Gavin is getting in trouble because he's falling asleep in the morning.  They use a point system this year for behavioral stuff and he's losing points for falling asleep.  We need to make sure that the teacher knows that this…

Can’t we all just get along? Apparently not, so here’s what we’re gonna do…

After all the drama from yesterday, listening to the advice from you (my readers) and some careful thought, I've decided to change my commenting policy. Up until this point, I have never banned a commenter or deleted a comment. The reason for this is because I want everyone to have a voice and be able to share their opinion, even if I don't agree. Unfortunately, things have gotten out of hand and after several repeat offenders spit out some pretty nasty comments last night, I've decided to take a different approach to addressing these people. The policy is simple, straight forward and hopefully understandable. Everyone is welcome to share their opinions, thoughts and feelings on this blog. No one is required to agree with me or anyone else and are…

We had a pretty smooth morning

Everyone got off to school in one trip and on time.  Emmett and Elliott were in rare form this morning but we survived. Gavin was his usual cooperative self and gave us no problems.  Emmett didn't want to go to school today and he put up a small fight but he eventually came around.  All in all, today was pretty smooth and I'm really grateful for that.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively from my Galaxy S4. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired "Like" me on Facebook Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me   Setup of an account with Bluehost and I get paid. Emmett’s five year check up and the MMR vaccine

This afternoon, Emmett has a check up at the pediatricians office.  We're a bit late on his 5 year visit but better late than never.  Right? Emmett will likely receive his MMR tomorrow because he's not received that yet.  Because of his fever disorder and havoc it was wreaking on him, his pediatrician suggested we hold off until the dust settles and we have a better idea of what's going on with him.  Also, we chose to spread his out as well. All the boys are up to date on their vaccines, aside from Emmett and his MMR.  While Emmett won't be very happy, he will be caught up on his vaccines.  I'm not looking forward to this because it will be tough on everyone there, but expecially Emmett.  This…

I need your advice

I'd like to say thank you for all your support.  I recognize that by putting our lives out there, people are going to comment and share their opinions.  Generally speaking, I welcome this because in most cases the dialog created helps to shine a light on a specific topic.  This is something that many people find useful. I just wanted to say thank you for all the love and support.  I also wanted to apologize for anyone that has been verbally assaulted by other readers. In the 3 years I've been blogging, I've never banned a user or censored anyone.  I've always felt that even the negative/ignorant/hateful comments serve a purpose.  They help to highlight what we face in terms of judgement and ridicule. I feel like I may need…

What did we learn from the endoscopy?

We just arrived home from the Cleveland Clinic and picking up the boys.  Lizze's Endoscopy went really well.  The biopsies were take and in a weird twist, Lizze remembers the procedure...  :-( We'll have the results back from the Celiac and H-pylori tests next week. This will sound really weird when I say this but unfortunately, everything looked normal. In fact, it even looks as though that she doesn't even have gastroparesis, as was previously thought. I say unfortunately, not because I wish she had something wrong, but instead because at least we would know what was causing her problems and we could do something about it. If the test comes back positive for Celiac, we know how to address that and relieve her symptoms.  If her stomach was still…
