Working together for Today’s #Autism Victory

The boys made their own Lego city today, although it's not made of Lego’s exclusively.  Either way, all three boys worked on this together and that makes it pretty friggin awesome if you ask me. I wish there was a pill for commonsense

As I've shared many times before, I'm not a huge fan of meds, unless they're needed.  I feel that in the right situation, medications can make a huge difference in someone's life. It's with that said, that I put this out there.  I wish that there was a pill that could give someone commonsense. I of course, have Gavin in mind with this.  One of the things that concerns me about Gavin, aside from his health, is his lack of commonsense. Gavin absolutely lacks commonsense and that's not something we can teach him. This is one of my biggest concerns when it comes to Gavin's future independence. Lacking commonsense is something that I think will dramatically impact his ability live on his own. Maybe I'm wrong, but based on what…

Confessions of a depressed #Autism Dad: A long overdue update

It's no state secret that I have a great many things on my plate.  It's also no secret that I have my own personal demons to contend with at the same time as well.  One of the many battles I'm fighting is with depression.  In the grand scheme of things, it's just one battle in a much larger war. Having said that, it's a significant one.  My personal struggle with depression began in my teens.  While it's true that we have had a very fragile peace, allowing for many years of a relatively depression free existence, I always knew that it was likely only a matter of time before we faced off once again. As many of you already know, I'm currently engaged in a battle with depression, once again.…

Don’t you love 3 day weekends?

Today is the beginning of a three day weekend for the Lost and Tired family.  This of course mean that the boys don't have school today.  Don't get me wrong, I love having the boys home, I just don't miss the fighting, screaming and otherwise lack of quiet.  With that said, I fully intend to go into today with a positive attitude and enjoy the time with my boys.  Elliott has a book report to work on. Gavin and Emmett have been playing really well together, so I can help Elliott with his report while they play in the next room. Here's to everyone having a great day, you included.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively from my Galaxy S4. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow…

Congratulations Elliott. Great job.

I want to share something very special with my readers today.  Elliott received a very special award today at school. This is a martial arts related award and it's called The Blue Star. This award is earned for outstanding display of self-control, courtesy, good deeds and a black belt attitude. I'm so proud of my little blue star award winner.  When we found this in his bag today after school, we panicked because we thought we missed an award ceremony.  Turns out that this was a small ceremony during the school day and it was just for the students.  Amazing job my sweet, sensitive, kind, loving, compassionate and beautiful little boy.  You rock.  :-) I truly love the fact that Summit Academy Schools use The Martial Arts with these kids. …

Awesome day at school today

The boys had a really good day at school today. We met them at school today at 3pm and enjoyed the open house.  We spoke with all the teachers and focused on Gavin's health with his teachers.  They have a much better understanding of what's going on now and are doing whatever they can to help make this work.  I love Summit Academy Schools.  Thank you so much for taking such good care of our kids.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively from my Galaxy S4. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired "Like" me on Facebook Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me   Setup of an account with Bluehost and I get paid. Screw the hate mongers, judgmental people and the bigots

In just don't understand why people aren't accepted for who they are? I'm not talking about mean, cruel or nasty people.  I'm talking people that aren't accepted because of a disability, color of their skin, sexual preferences, gender, religious or political beliefs or ethnicity. Screw the hate mongers and bigots. I believe that we are all created equal, and regardless of our wrappers, we are all amazingly beautiful on the inside.  Why people don't see that is really sad.  I really like the world would be such a better place if we embraced our differences and accepted each other for who they are.  I've always hated when people are discriminated against but I also can't help but feel sorry for the people that live in a world, so small, that…

Returning to school

In a few hours, Lizze and I will be returning to the school for an open house.  This is really important because we will get to touch base with all the boys teachers. We will also get to speak with Gavin's teachers and get them on the same page with his health issues.  Lizze is getting some rest and I'm waiting on a work related phone call.  Thank God I don't need the power button to answer and talk on the phone.  :-( This site is managed almost exclusively from my Galaxy S4. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired "Like" me on Facebook Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me   Setup of an account with Bluehost and I get paid.…
