Emmett is at OT and today is a special day.  He is running through the standardized testing to evaluate his progress.  Watching this is making me want to cry because he is struggling with many of the fine motor things.  He looks so determined but his body simply can't do it. Times like this remind me that despite all the progress he has made,  we still have such a long way to go. They did the basic eye exam.  Then things took a really ugly turn.  When it was time to put the drops in Gavin's eyes he totally lost it. I ended up having to hold his head and pry his eyes open.  I haven't seen Gavin like this is a very long time.  The drops don't even hurt and he has had eye drops before without any problems.  He was screaming and fighting so badly that he scared the poor nurse that was giving him the drops. This exam is extremely important so we had to do with we had to do.  I really hope this isn't going to be a growing trend.  I understand he was nervous but wow,  this was way over the top. After a nightmarish drive and getting lost in downtown Cleveland while using GPS we have finally arrived.  The were a few closed roads that got me turned around and the GPS kept freezing. However,  we finally made it with 2 minutes to spare. Lizze and I are both very nervous about today. Awhile back I mentioned something about a major announcement. Well, alot has transpired since that post. Some of my plans have been put on hold but others are about to finally see the light of day. While I'm only going to tease this a bit right now, I'll make a more official announcement in the very near future. I have a few things to work out and a few ducks let to get in a row but my goal is to be able to reach out to families within the Autism community and offer a form of assistance. That's all I'm going to say right now. I'll have more to come VERY soon.

We got the results back late this afternoon for the rather extensive testing that took place about 2 weeks ago. The immunologist was concerned that Emmett may be suffering from the same immunological disorder that Gavin suffers from. The reason for the concern is that Emmett has these random week long fevers of 103oF+ for no apparent reason. After what felt like the longest wait in the world we received a phone call late this afternoon. I'm very pleased to announce that while we still don't know the cause of the fevers, they are not a result of an Immunol deficiency. Needless to say, this is quite the relief.
