I took Gavin to the grocery store again today.  He pushed the cart by himself for most of the time.  He still struggles with the whole paying attention and watching out for others thing but he did much better today.  I try to allow him to do stuff like this whenever I'm in a position to.  I think it's extremely important that Gavin get hands on real life experience whenever possible.  It can honestly be frustrating and to? If you're here expecting something seedy,  get your mind out of the gutter.  I thought I would share a relatively new behavior that Emmett is presenting with.  Emmett will no longer use the bathroom without someone escorting him.  He was doing very well for a long time.  Now all of a sudden he won't go to the bathroom alone.  Not really a problem but more of an annoyance.  Not sure if this is just a phase but I'm really hoping it is. Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like God is obviously punishing you for something you did wrong at some point?  Today is one of those days for me. Emmett noticed a picture of himself in a Cookie Monster diaper on the digital picture frame.  It was like he reunited with some long lost love.  He immediately stripped out of his underware.  Then proceeded to run around the house commando style,  looking in all the usual places he used to stash his diapers.  Upon realizing that there are none left in the house,  all hell broke loose.  Emmett completely lost it and then ran around the house to all the same places he had previously check only moments earlier,  only this time screaming at the top…

Emmett is at OT and today is a special day.  He is running through the standardized testing to evaluate his progress.  Watching this is making me want to cry because he is struggling with many of the fine motor things.  He looks so determined but his body simply can't do it. Times like this remind me that despite all the progress he has made,  we still have such a long way to go. They did the basic eye exam.  Then things took a really ugly turn.  When it was time to put the drops in Gavin's eyes he totally lost it. I ended up having to hold his head and pry his eyes open.  I haven't seen Gavin like this is a very long time.  The drops don't even hurt and he has had eye drops before without any problems.  He was screaming and fighting so badly that he scared the poor nurse that was giving him the drops. This exam is extremely important so we had to do with we had to do.  I really hope this isn't going to be a growing trend.  I understand he was nervous but wow,  this was way over the top.
