I have some exciting news

I spoke with a very special family today.  They will be the very first recipient of an Android4Autism device. I am very excited to be able to do this. I will have more information in the very near future.  For right now I just wanted to share this with all of you. This is something very special to me and truly worthwhile cause.  Please keep Android4Autism in mind when deciding what to do with your unused Android device. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Tegra 2 powered Motorola Photon 4G without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. Emmett and Daddy

Emmett decided to climb onto my shoulders for the very first time. In the past he was always uninterested or afraid. Then the other day I was sitting on the couch and he came up behind me and jumped up on my shoulders.  Just one of those things that some might take for granted but others will appreciate for how wonderful the progress is. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Tegra 2 powered Motorola Photon 4G without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. Gavin and Elliott have orientation

Gavin and Elliott have orientation today.  This isn't a big deal for Gavin at this point but it's a bigger deal for Elliott.  Elliott has mixed feelings about going to a new school.  I'm really hoping today goes well for him.  He will have a teacher that we absolutely love and will be a great fit for Elliott.  I think that getting back into school will help to address some of the OCD we have seen recently.  He really needs to be around other kids his age.  I'm not happy the way this whole thing went down for Elliott but I know the teachers and staff at his new school and they are all fantastic.  It's not easy for me to trust people with my kids but Summit Academy has…

Gavin’s metabolic testing 8/22/2011

Last week Gavin had about 13 vials of blood taken for some extensive metabolic testing.  We have received word that some of the initial tests have come back in.  The test results have come back for the vitamin and mineral deficiencies.  All those are normal.  In a weird way,  I'm not sure this was actually good news.  I mean,  to say that it kind of sucks that it wasn't something simple like a vitamin deficiency or something that could easily be corrected. Don't get me wrong,  I'm happy this is something that we don't have to worry about but at the same time it means we have something bigger going on. I'm not really surprised but it would be nice for Gavin to catch a break.. Although, to be honest, …

Can you say busy week

This week is crazy busy.  I just realized we have at least 9 appointments this week. Two are at Akron Children's Hospital and the rest are local.  Gavin has a follow up with the immunology this week as well.  Hopefully everything will check out. Emmett also starts school on Friday so that should help him.. Busy,  busy. At least these are all relatively local this week.  We start back to the Cleveland Clinic beginning on September. - Lost and Tired Post by Wordpress for Android via Nexus S 4G without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. A great visit to the developmental neurologist

I'll be honest,  I wasn't sure how much I liked our developmental neurologist at first.  However,  she won me over today.  As I mentioned a few times already,  today was just a follow up.  It's kind of a way to document progress.  You may recall that we were baving issues with our local school system providing proper servises based on an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.  The school was only willing to provide speech therapy and that was it. They were unwilling to acknowledge his diagnosis. I explained to the developmental neurologist what the school system was doing or rather not doing.  She reconfirmed his diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.  She said she was going to write a new letter explaining the diagnosis once again.  I was thrilled with that.  However, …
