Picture of the day 10/20/2011

I think I'm going to do a Picture of the day post...everyday.  I love taking pictures of the boys all the time.  Why not share them with the world? This was taken as Emmett was caught putting hole protectors all over his chest and tummy.  He was simply to cute. - Lost and Tired Posted by Wordpress for Android via Samsungs Epic Touch 4G (provided to me at no charge by Sprint) without the use of proper editing tools and disadvantages of a bastardized version of auto-correct. Medication Miracles

As many of you are already aware, Gavin has been on a necessary but crazy amount of medications for a long time (See: My interview on CNN). Gavin was taking almost 9 different medications per day. This was necessary in order to help manage some of his health and mental health issues. As much as we hated to have him take these medication, they improved the quality of his life and the results were tough to argue. With that said, my wife and I feel very strongly about constantly reviewing the need for medications. Meaning that, if they are needed, we don't want him to take them. Our doctors are very good and reevaluating the need for medications and are by no means overzealous about prescribing them. While it may seem…

Walking on water

Emmett had OT again this afternoon.  Today however,  it was raining.  Emmett refused to walk and wanted me to carry him because he didn't want to walk on the water. Now,  I of course picked him up and carried him.  However,  upon picking him up and walking to the door,  Emmett looked me dead in the eyes and said "wow Daddy,  you walk on water".  Now honestly,  let's see a show of hands,  who wouldn't want to hear their child say that to them? I realize that I can't truly walk on water in the proverbial sense.  However,  today,  as far as Emmett's concerned I did.  After all I carried him across the wet concrete.  I just smiled because he just made my day. You don't have to really walk…

PLEASE don’t use drugs

You'll find this post way of topic but I thought we could all do with a good 'ol fashioned laugh. This is my public service message for today. Don't do drugs.....or this could be you. Alright, having said that, I wanted to share this SNL clip with you fine folks. I crack up each and every time I see this. Hopefully, it will lighten the your mood as well. Drug abuse isn't funny at all but SNL is freakin' hilarious. I hope no one takes offense to this. :-)

It’s about freakin’ time

Sometimes it's the little things that make me feel accomplished.  For some people it's money, power, advancement ect. I'm pretty down to earth and my expectations are more...realistic.With that said,  I managed to pull something off today that I have been struggling with for several months. What's that you might ask?  Well let me tell you. I have been playing Angry Birds Rio since its release earlier this year.  I have this thing with Angry Birds that I need to get 3 stars on every level before I can move on to the next. Well,  I have been stuck on level 5-11 of Beach Volleyball for about 3 months now. I managed to get 2 stars a few weeks ago but have been stuck ever since.  I played every day…

Brushing

I thought I would post this in order to help clarify something that I refer to quite frequently. I talk about brushing the kids all the time as a means of providing sensory relief.  I wasn't sure if anyone had actually seen the brushes used for this. I thought I would post a few pictures of what is probably the most commonly used brush. This brush works very well.  It's soft but firm and the kids really benefit from it.  We tend to get ours directly from our OT for under $2. 00 each. I hope this helps someone.  If nothing else, maybe this gives you a little more knowledge than you had before. ;-) - Lost and Tired Posted by Wordpress for Android via Samsungs Epic Touch 4G (provided…

Are you kidding me?

You know something,  our kids are given these scissors to use in preschool. I remember the teachers testing my kids ability to use these scissors as part of their evaluations. Not that it's a huge deal,  but have any of you ever tried to actually use these things.  I was trying to cut some paper while making dinner this evening and these freakin' things don't even work for me most of the time,  how can we expect our kids to use them?  :O I get the whole safety scissors thing but couldn't someone invent something that is equally safe but actually functions?  - Lost and Tired Posted by Wordpress for Android via Samsungs Epic Touch 4G (provided to me at no charge by Sprint) without the use of proper editing tools…
