Off to a good start

Lizze's headache infusion is underway.  The boys are off to school and Emmett is eating breakfast. Everything went rather smooth and we only had a few hiccups along the way.  Emmett decided that he didn't want to go with me to take his brothers to school.  He always wants to go.  It figures that the one day he can't stay home is the day he decides to protest having to go.  I had to bribe him with 2 sausage patties from McDonalds.  I'm not a fan of bribing my kids but sometimes it's a necessary evil. His very simple order was screwed up and we didn't realize it till we got home.  They have him apple slices instead of apple juice. He's pretty upset about that but seems to be…

I found my new happy place

Here in Ohio,  the temperature been in the 70's for the past few days and for the foreseeable future. I'm outside with the puppy throughout the day and so I started doing yard work. I'm really enjoying the quite time outside, even if it's just a few minutes at a time. Since we lost our van and had to replace it,  we will be stuck in this house for the immediate future.  I fully intend to make the best out of a bad situation and make things as pleasant and normal-ish as possible. Hopefully,  I'll be able to enlist some of my family and we can get the yard in good enough shape for the boys to play outside. I'm also hoping to get a fresh coat of paint on…

Preparing for battle

Lizze begins her second,  necessary headache infusion tomorrow morning. While she will only be incapacitated from this procedure for about three days,  that translates into for-freaking-ever in special needs parenting time. I want to try and get somethings done before she leaves for her first session in the morning. I need to get to Waterloo Transmission and work out payment arrangements for the repairs done to our old van about two weeks before is was stolen and totaled out. I need to get to the grocery store for some basics. I also need to get thank you cards to send out to everyone that sent us cards in the mail and also reply to all the emails of support we received as well. It's very important to me to get…

#Autism, Anxiety and Risperdal

Hey folks,  I wanted to update you on how Elliott is doing so far on the Risperdal.  He has had his second dose this morning and seems to be tolerating it very well,  at least thus far. The reality is that he is on a very low dose,  especially when compared to Gavin.  Gavin maxed out at 8mg/day and it barely took the edge off.  While Elliott, one the other hand, is on .5mg/day.  Gavin was on Risperdal for a very different reason than Elliott is now.  Hopefully,  this will continue to be tolerated well,  and Elliott's extreme anxiety can be reduced to just anxiety.  I'm realistic about this and am only hoping for improvement and not perfection.  I'll keep ya'll posted as time goes on.  :-) **Thanks for reading**…

Hey, just make yourself comfortable

The other day,  Emmett spent some time at my parents house because Lizze had I had a few appointments. A few hours later we came back to pick him up and this is how we found him.  :-) Emmett,  God love him,  just makes himself comfortable wherever he goes.  Aside from the obvious problems with this as he gets older,  at least the kids knows that makes himself feel better.  We do need to work on this though because he's only going to be little enough to pull this off for a short time.  We'll have to keep working on getting dressed and wearing clothes. He's actually doing better with tolerating clothes,  but we still have a ways to go....obviously. :-)  **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired…
