Preparing for battle

Lizze begins her second,  necessary headache infusion tomorrow morning. While she will only be incapacitated from this procedure for about three days,  that translates into for-freaking-ever in special needs parenting time. I want to try and get somethings done before she leaves for her first session in the morning. I need to get to Waterloo Transmission and work out payment arrangements for the repairs done to our old van about two weeks before is was stolen and totaled out. I need to get to the grocery store for some basics. I also need to get thank you cards to send out to everyone that sent us cards in the mail and also reply to all the emails of support we received as well. It's very important to me to get…

#Autism, Anxiety and Risperdal

Hey folks,  I wanted to update you on how Elliott is doing so far on the Risperdal.  He has had his second dose this morning and seems to be tolerating it very well,  at least thus far. The reality is that he is on a very low dose,  especially when compared to Gavin.  Gavin maxed out at 8mg/day and it barely took the edge off.  While Elliott, one the other hand, is on .5mg/day.  Gavin was on Risperdal for a very different reason than Elliott is now.  Hopefully,  this will continue to be tolerated well,  and Elliott's extreme anxiety can be reduced to just anxiety.  I'm realistic about this and am only hoping for improvement and not perfection.  I'll keep ya'll posted as time goes on.  :-) **Thanks for reading**…

Hey, just make yourself comfortable

The other day,  Emmett spent some time at my parents house because Lizze had I had a few appointments. A few hours later we came back to pick him up and this is how we found him.  :-) Emmett,  God love him,  just makes himself comfortable wherever he goes.  Aside from the obvious problems with this as he gets older,  at least the kids knows that makes himself feel better.  We do need to work on this though because he's only going to be little enough to pull this off for a short time.  We'll have to keep working on getting dressed and wearing clothes. He's actually doing better with tolerating clothes,  but we still have a ways to go....obviously. :-)  **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired…

The next 10 days…

Last night Emmett woke up in pain once again.  It appears as though he has hit another cycle as his mouth is breaking out in cold sores.  I also mentioned that this could last the next 10 days.  That got me thinking about what the next 10 days has in store for the Lost and Tired family. Last night,  Elliott began talking Risperdal for his anxiety.  We have no idea if he will react the same way to Risperdal as he did Zoloft.  His previous reaction was indicative of bipolar disorder.  Hopefully,  it was just a freaking reaction and don't continue down the path to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. We should know pretty quick if the Risperdal is going to help him or instead,  make things worse. In Thursday, …

F*ck you time change

There are few things I dislike more in this world than the time change. I mean,  I personally handle it just fine,  however, my three. Autistic boys don't.  The simple act of moving the clocks ahead by one hour is completely disruptive.  It's like someone took their world and shook it up like a snow globe. It becomes total chaos for them and subsequently for us as well. I say this every spring and fall because the time change is like my worst enemy. I try to bring peace and order to our world and time change seeks to bring confusion and chaos. The confusion and chaos,  typically lasts for a few weeks.  Those few weeks are among the worst of the year. This may sound dramatic,  but the switch…

Tuesday night fever

Emmett just woke up crying a little while ago.  We had thought his sinus infection was back but noooo,  it's a brand new fever cycle.  While the fever is minor,  his mouth is breaking out again.  That's what caused him to wake up in pain tonight. This sucks because there really isn't much we can do for him until it's over. When it's over,  can be as far as 10 from now. For his sake,  and everyone else's in the Lost and Tired house,  I hope this is a quick cycle.  :-( It's gonna be a long night.... **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android
