#Autism: The lighter side of things

It thought I would share a bit of the lighter side of the Lost and Tired family story.  This is a picture of my tiniest little minion,  Mr.  Emmett John.  He's all tuckered out after a really long day. He's peaceful,  quite and so friggin' cute.  I love him so much and these moments are among my most favorite. I just wanted to share this with all of you because I share a great deal rather depressing things,  all true but depressing nonetheless. This picture demonstrates that we do have our quite moments as well.  Thank you for following our story.  I know it's not always rainbows and butterflies but it is our truth and I'm honored that you find it worth reading. Our that note,  I wish you all…

Daddy, can I come with you?

Daddy,  can I come with you?  How many times do we here that in the course of the day?  Please note that you can insert Mommy into that as well.  I didn't forget any of you amazing mothers out there :-) I hear this question countless times a day.  Majority of the time it's Emmett asking me the question. Anytime I go to the store,  Emmett always asks if he can come with me.  Other times,  when the whole Lost and Tired family is in the car and all I have to do is run into the store for a prescription,  he wants to come as well.  It will literally take 2 minutes to run in and out.  By the time I get him out of his car seat,  navigate…

#Autism, Anxiety and Risperdal: Day 3

Elliott seems to be experiencing benefits from the Risperdal.  He seems a little more relaxed and had a warning free day at school today.  I'm really hoping the trend continues and he experiences more and more relief from his extreme level of anxiety. It's only been a few days and maybe this change is just a coincidence.  Either way,  I'm happy to see the improvement,  regardless of the cause... :-) **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android

Friggin’ time change

Every time change presents problems for the Lost and Tired family.  Personally,  I have adjusted to daylight savings time but my kids haven't. Typically,  it takes several weeks for them to adjust.  Their internal clocks are all screwed up,  so they don't sleep through the night.  At times they either can't fall asleep or they wake up at some ungodly hour.  Needless to say,  the boys don't sleep,  we don't sleep. We tried things like preparing them for the time change ahead of time but it never seems to make a difference. We just have to hunker down and wait this one out.  I realize that easier said than done but sometimes this just isn't much that can be done. How do your kids handle the time change? **Thanks for…

Emmett’s Lego Creation: 03/16/2012

Emmett John has been busy,  working hard on his next Lego Creation.  This morning he dug out his Mega Blocks and built a dog. I'm not sure why he decided to do this but he's really proud of himself. I applaud his creativity and determination.  Oddly though,  he didn't name it as he usually does.  **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android

I feel like I haven’t slept in years

I can't,  for the life of me keep my eyes open this morning. I'm not sure why I'm so tired but I definitely am. I'd love to take Emmett for a nap but I have to wait for the gas to be turned back on.  This is only the second time that we have had a utility shut off but it sucks anyway. Thankfully it's in the 50's,  so the house isn't to cold. I need a nap in the worst way imaginable but it's never gonna happen,  at least not today.... :-( **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android

Who needs the zoo

We used to go to the Cleveland Zoo a few times a year.  However,  as this life becomes a bit more complicated for us,  we don't get out as much.  Sometimes we have to improvise and try and incorporate other things where we can,  when we can. For example, sometimes we can substitute a trip to the zoo with a trip to the pet store. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Community Autism Support Forum Posted from WordPress for Android

Bumps along the way

Fridays plans have had to change.  When we arrived home today from picking up Lizze,  we were met with a surprise. Dominion left a little present in the form of a shut off tag. Truth be told,  we have always struggled to meet our expenses,  at least more recently.  However,  since the van was stolen,  things have been a bit more challenging. That goddamn van getting stolen is like the gift that keeps on giving. I managed to get it turned back on but not until tomorrow,  sometime between the hours of 7am and 11pm. I explained that I really could use it back on tonight but they weren't moved. We sent Gavin and Elliott to Lizze's parents because they need showers and baths.  Her mom is taking them to…
