Thank you for your thoughts and prayers

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. My mother arrived home last night. She passed her stress test nut they haven't figured out what caused the breathing problems. They think may have been caused by her mitrovalve prolapse but they aren't sure. She is doing fine and planning a cook out for tomorrow. They will be following up with her doctor. I just wanted to make sure I let you know how much I appreciated you thoughts and prayers. :-) **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android so please forgive any typos as auto correct and I don't get along very well sometimes.

The reason I love my wife

Being special needs parents can be very stressful on a marriage. Factor in being a blended family and that can add further strain. However, I thought that I would share just one of the reasons I love my wife so much. I mentioned previously that my back is out again. The reason, aside for the injury from 10 years ago, is that In have not been able to walk in awhile because Lizze is not doing to well and needs me at home. Now, she has never asked me to stop walking but I know how much she struggles and so she doesn't have to ask. Today has been really painful for me and I can't even bend over and tie my own shoes. Getting dressed is not pleasant at…

#Autism, behavior and tough love

Today has not been a good day for Gavin.  We started off this morning with 2 giant meltdowns because of inappropriate touching. The Lost and Tired family has a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate touching. After discussing this topic with his therapist,  she confirmed that we have to have zero tolerance policy. It doesn't matter what he's struggling with at the moment because we have to ensure the safety of everyone in the house. At the same time,  we are desperately trying to help Gavin avoid trouble down the road.  As he gets older and this behavior continues,  he will find himself in very serious trouble. Gavin also had his first day of home instruction this morning. Lizze took him and I stayed back with the boys. Lizze wanted to…

#Autism: Fruits and Veggies

If your kids are anything like mine, they don’t like to eat their fruits or veggies. For my kids, it's a texture thing. I imagine the same can be said about many other kids as well. I decided to try something a little different. I froze a bunch of bananas and told the boys we were going to make ice cream. In case you don't know, frozen bananas taste like ice cream. The difference being that frozen bananas are 100% healthy as ice cream is not. As my kids are sensitive to colors, they can make their own color by adding different fruits to the mix. For example, if they mix strawberries in, they will have pink ice cream. If they want purple or blue, they add blackberries or blueberries.…

I’m selling my Samsung Transform Ultra

This is just an FYI. I have listed a new Samsung Transform Ultra from Sprint. There is no contract required and the ESN is clean. I'm selling this 2 week old phone in order to bring in some extra money to cover the travel expenses for next weeks doctors visits. We have a couple appointments at Akron Children's Hospital for infectious disease and immunology. I figured that I would list some of the things that I can sell. Please only bid if you actually need it. In other words, please don't feel obligated to bid, solely to help us out. I just sharing this to spread word about the auction, that's all. The auction is only for the next 23 hours. http://www.ebay.com/itm/200766859879?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1202

The first day of homeschool

Today marks Gavin’s first official day of homeschooling or home instruction. Because his health is fragile,  his doctor has pulled him from school and we subsequently set up home instruction,  to finish out the year. He's excited about going because Gavin’s one of those kids that really likes school. He will be meeting his teacher at the local library for 2.5 hours this morning.  She will spend that time teaching and then assign him homework for the week. I'm hoping this works out well for him and doesn't end in disaster. Gavin doesn't always do well in these situations. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android

How does your child handle temperature change?

I realized this my sound like a silly but it's a serious question.  However does your child with #Autism,  handle temperature change? For example,  when it's really hot outside,  do they struggle with sensory issues relating to the heat?  Does there same thing happen with the cold weather as well? The reason I'm asking is that I have noticed that my kids seem ton struggle with temperature change. They get really cranky and tend to act out more.  I have always assumed it was sensory related or that they were just less tolerant of the changes in temperature. Thoughts? **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android

#Autism: Does your child scream?

The screaming has already begun. Emmett is screaming over everything. I was wondering what you experience as far as screaming goes with your child on the #Autism spectrum? Does there seem to be a cause?  Do you think it's all sensory related? I would really be interested in your feedback. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store Posted from WordPress for Android
