Do you have #Fibromyalgia?

As many of you know,  my amazing wife battles Fibromyalgia every day.  I was thinking and began to wonder how many of you out there are dealing with something similar? As special needs parents,  our lives are filled with stress.  How do you manage to make it through the day when stress makes the symptoms of things like Fibromyalgia much worse? Please share a little bit about yourself and your struggle with pain disorders like Fibromyalgia...  Let show each other that we aren't alone.  **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung's Galaxy S III. Bella’s surgical recovery: Update 08/13/2012

I thought I would take a second and update you all on Bella's recovery from surgery this past Monday. She's doing really well.  She's not in any pain or discomfort, which is nice.  Emmett is taking excellent care of her.  She is however,  a bit to active.  As a result, we have to keep her tethered to the couch so she can't run around. The stitches come out on this coming Thursday, and then she should be cleared to return to her hyperactive lifestyle. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung's Galaxy S III. August’s antibody infusion: Success

Yesterday,  Gavin had his monthly antibody infusion.  Everything was pretty routine until about 15 minutes into the car ride.  Gavin began to enter an autonomic crisis. He became sick to his stomach and extremely light headed and dizzy. He lost all his color and he could barely hold himself up. Lizze notified the hospital of what was happening and they basically met her as she entered oncology.  They gave Gavin special meds so that he would vomit and make anything worse. After resting for a little while,  he stabilized and they proceeded with the infusion.  Because he was already having issues coming into the into the infusion,  and because he got sick after the last one,  they had to slow things way down.  He now gets and IV bolus of…

I’m soooooo tired of these meltdowns

Gavin is having a huge and I mean huge meltdown right now.  I managed to get him to his room and shut the door. I'm sitting outside his door and making sure that he doesn’t leave. At the moment, he's hitting himself with anything that he can. I'm way to friggin tired to deal with this right now so I'm not even watching him. I'm just going to sit outside the door and make sure he stays put.  Right or wrong,  I honestly want nothing to do with this right now. This whole thing is because he was caught lying to Elliott,  5 times. When approached about this he got upset.  The end result being that he doesn't get pizza for dinner like the rest of his brothers. That is…

#Autistic Artwork: de Blob

Elliott colored this today and wanted me to share it with everyone.  This is de Blob from the video game.  He did this entirely on his own and I forgot one,  think he did a fantastic job.  Enjoy... **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at the Google Play Store This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung's Galaxy S III. How to deal with #Autism and violent behavior

I'm frequently contacted by parents because they are overwhelmed, frustrated or just, Lost and Tired.  The problem is frequently related to violent behavior associated with their child diagnosed with #Autism or #Aspergers. Let me be very,  very clear.  I'm by no means stating that all kids with #Autism or #Aspergers,  present with violent behaviors.  However,  some kids do and when they do,  what are you supposed to do? How do you address this type of behavior? What happens when you are a victim of physical outbursts?  How are you supposed to respond when your child hits,  kicks, bites, pinches or simply calls you names? This is a very serious topic and I'm asking that you all share your personal experience.  You never know when something that you have learned could…

Autonomic Crisis: Update 08/10/2012 (11am)

Alright,  I just got off the phone with Lizze.  Basically,  Gavin crashed on the car ride up to have his monthly antibody infusion. His heart rate was all over the place.  He was ashen gray,  nauseous and extremely dizzy.  When they arrived at Akron Children's Hospital,  Gavin's nurse from oncology met them with anti-nausea medications. Once out of the car,  Gavin stabized.  They are proceeding with his antibody.  However,  the process is going to take an extra hour today as they are going to use a slower drip to hopefully help Gavin's system to handle the infusion. I'll keep you all posted.  Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. **Thanks for reading**        -Lost and Tired Please join our Autism Help Forum Look for "Autism Help" app at…
