What businesses have you found to be #autism friendly?

I have been fortunate enough to come across a few companies or business that were very friendly to my boys with #autism. I have also had the opposite experience as well. I thought it might be a good idea to share these experiences, both good and bad.  I think it's important to shine the spotlight on the one that are great to special needs families and kids/adults with autism. These companies should be rewarded with our business and we should let others know so they can experience this as well. On the flip side of the coin, it's also important to share the negatives as well so we can avoid potentially bad situations. So.....What businesses have you found to be #autism friendly?

How do you define success and can your child with #Autism be successful?

This is something that creeps up every once in awhile. Someone makes the comment that a child with #Autism can never be successful. My response is the same every single time. I think that if someone believes that a child with #Autism can never be successful, they need to reevaluate their definition of success. I think success is widely open to interpretation.  Personally, I absolutely believe that any child can be successful. The problem lies in the expectations of those that are doing the judging and not the child. I think that too many people define success as money, fame and power. I personally believe that success is defined by reaching ones potential and by getting up one more time than you fall. By that definition, my autistic children are already a…

The challenge of a new day

The old saying,  "tomorrow is a new day", isn't as inspiring for me as it once was.  It's nice to know that tomorrow will bring with is a new day,  however,  what they don't tell you is whether or not, tomorrow is going to be better than today. In my opinion,  that a huge piece of information to leave out. In my case,  just because tomorrow arrives doesn't mean it will be better or different than today. It would like to propose a rule.  This rule would force tomorrow to be better that today. What do you think? This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. The walls must be made of rubber

The walls must be made of rubber, because the boys and bouncing off of them today, like it's nobody's business. The exception is Gavin, who is actually well behaved this morning. Emmett is so far over the edge that my only goal for today is to survive it. Good Lord,  he is all over the place. Thankfully, it's just about time for naps and Mommy and Daddy might get break and maybe,  just maybe, get to close our eyes for a bit. I missed you too much Daddy

I woke up to a phone call shortly after 5am this morning. Apparently,  Emmett woke up around 4:30am crying that he wanted to come home. Needless to say, the day began insanely early today. When Emmett's arrived home, shortly after 6am, I asked him what was wrong.  He told me that he woke up and wanted to come home. I asked him why he wanted to come home? All he said was,  I missed you too much Daddy. That was totally worth getting up early for.  :-) This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. #Autistic Creations: The Portal 2 Gun

Gavin created his version of the Portal 2 gun. He whipped this up after school on Friday. It's pretty clever.  This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. The race is on

Gavin drew this at school yesterday .  He drew the same thing the day before. I don't know why he's drawing it over and over but he seems to enjoy it and I suppose that what counts.  :-) This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. I know what it feels like to be a car

I know what it feels like to be a car now.  Only Gavin is behind the wheel and he's driving me to crazytown. I'm trying so hard to be patient with him but he's not listening. He keeps claiming to forget.  I suppose it's possible but he could also be trying to play me. Tonight I have resorted to sending him to his room to read for a little while. This is allowing to avoid crazytown for just a hit longer.  I fear that this is just a detour on the way and I will eventually arrive at my destination. I hope there's a pool.  :-(  This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Please forgive any typos. I do know how to spell but…
