Almost called the police of my son

Gavin had a huge tantrum tonight because he didn't listen and ripped something out of Emmett's hands.  It got pretty ugly and the boys were hiding in Elliott's room while I managed Gavin in the living room. While he wasn't aggressive towards anyone but himself he was extremely loud and disruptive. It got so bad that we took his stuffed animal, after repeatedly warning him. That really set him off. It was at this point that I threatened to call the police. This was not an empty threat either. This would be an absolute last resort because Elliott and Emmett would be completely freaked out by that, possibly more than they were by the tantrum itself. Gavin kept screaming not my teddy, not my teddy. I was like, how about…

Testing the limits

This morning began with more Gavin related issues. We have had to make a rule that when he's in his bedroom, he needs permission to leave.  This is a huge PITA but it helps to ensure everyone's safety. This morning, Gavin asked me if he could use the bathroom.  I said sure, gobuse the bathroom.  I was in my room,  still waking up. Next thing I know,  Lizze is standing there asking me if I had given Gavin permission to go downstairs.  I said no, because I hadn't.  Apparently, Gavin told Lizze that I had given him said permission to leave his room and go downstairs.  That simply was not the case. Lizze and I have told Gavin,  over and over again that we will always check with each other…

What the hell

What the hell is wrong with society. The Canton Repository just posted a follow up to the article I posted earlier (see It's Really Scary). They arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for the triple shooting that happened about a block or so from my house over the weekend. They were kids, one was 16 and the other 18. This is absolutely insane.  What's wrong with the world, that our kids are doing things like this? Here is the article as posted by the Canton Repository, all credit goes to them for the article. I'm simply quoting. CANTON-Detectives arrested an 18-year-old city man and a juvenile after three people were shot early Sunday morning in a 12th Street NW apartment. Devione C. Mitchell, 18, of 1718 Regent Ave. NE,…

It’s a gas…

We will be getting Elliott's broken tooth fixed tomorrow,  at 9:30 am.  Elliott is very likely to be extremely anxious about going to see the dentist.  I spoke with the dentists office about my concerns and they asked if he would tolerate the mask needed to deliver the sleeping gas. I think he will do that.  It's a much better option than trying to do this with him awake. Thankfully it's just a baby tooth. It could always be..........wow,  that was close.  I almost jinxed myself.  This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Please forgive any typos. It’s really scary

This was in the Canton Repository today.  There was another shooting within about a block of our house. It's getting scary really scary out here anymore. All credit for this article goes to The Canton Repository. CANTON-Detectives are investigating a triple shooting that occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday. Police and medics were called to 822 12th Street NW, where three gunshot victims were found. Canton Police Lt. Dan McCartney called the incident a “home invasion gone bad.” A witness told police that two men entered the apartment and shot three occupants. According to the police report, the suspects still were in the residence when officers arrived. The report said they tried to “blend in” with others at the apartment, but a witness identified them as the shooters. Police have three…

What are your questions about #Autism?

Today's #Autism Discussion is going to be very simple but perhaps the most helpful yet. I want to create an ongoing dialog, where people can ask questions about Autism and have them answered by other members of the community. I think this is a great way to spread Autism Awareness. So...... Do you have any questions about Autism that you would like to have answered? Please don't be afraid to ask anything, you will be treated with respect and we will work hard to provide you with honest answers. Two days later

Elliott is finally asleep. He's been awake for the better part of 2 days. I mentioned that he broke a tooth and I think that is contributing to the problem. Tonight,  I bumped his melatonin up a little bit.  It was just enough to help ease him off to sleep.  Thank God for small favors.
