It’s gonna be a long night….again

It's gonna be a long night.  Emmett is miserable and not sleeping well.  Elliott is not sleeping well either.  Emmett moved into our bed and I will likely be moving to the living room with Elliott.  This is kinda par for the course is suppose. Thankfully, neither of the E's have been like this in awhile. That's good for them and good for us.  Wish us luck....  ;-) This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Please forgive any typos. This bites

Elliott spent the night at my parents house last night.  At some point he was eaten alive by something.  Not sure if this was mosquitoes or fleas. Sometimes he just wakes up with these bites and it doesn't matter where he's slept. He's the only one in our house that this ever happens to.  He's a sweet kid but jeez oh man,  enough already.  This was posted via WordPress for Android, courtesy of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. How does your child hold a pencil?

This is kinda random but I was reminded today that we still have a great deal of work left to do.  We have been working with Gavin for years on his pencil grip.  You can see in the pictures below how awful it is.  I use the word awful because he's doing physical damage to his first finger and may end up requiring surgery at some point.  You can see, especially his middle finger,  at the top joint, is hyperextended.  It looks so painful.  I'm sure a potion of that his aided by his loose joints but still. We first noticed this years ago because he was literally snapping crayons and pencils due to pressure exerted by his fingers.  When he was evaluated,  they said that he was going to…

Post your favorite funny video

I honestly have nothing against Apple's products, just the business practices of the company behind them. I stumbled across this video while on YouTube and thought it was pretty funny. Regardless of how you feel abot Apple or their products, this is some funny stuff. Sometimes as special needs parents, we need to have a laugh or two. It helps to reduce stress, break up the day and it burns calories. Now who doesn't want to burn some calories? Be honest. Anyway, I thought we could give each other a laugh buy sharing funny YouTube videos. All you have to do is copy and paste the url into the comments and it will show up. This is my favorite video for today.

The spike

Well,  Emmett hasn't had an actual fever flare in quite some time.  He has instead mostly gotten the mouth sores alone.  However, this time he's definitely spiking a fever and is miserable. I have to run out and get some more advil to control the fever.  I hope this cycle goes quickly and doesn't drag out the usual 10 days. How did it feel to find out your child has #Autism?

Today's #Autism Discussion is about what you felt when you learned that your child has #Autism? What was your initial reaction to hearing those words for the first time? For me personally,  it literally felt like my entire world was made of glass and had just been shattered. That the only way that I can describe it. Please share your experience in the comments and hopefully by learning you aren't alone, you'll feel less isolated.   This is the best way I can think to describe what I felt.
