Sweet candy and sour moods

Emmett is in a really, really bad mood.  For the past few hours, if anyone speaks, not even to him, he screams.  I wish I knew what was wrong but he's not really talking at the moment.  If we ask him what's wrong, he screams for us to stop it.  :-( Elliott's bummed out that we can't go trick or treating due to the poor weather conditions. Lizze and I have promised to take the boys to Chuck E Cheeses on payday to make up for no trick or treating this year. Hopefully they will make it until Tuesday. I'm trying get to put a positive spin on this and make it seem like a good thing.  Unfortunately, it's not working.

Halloween without Gavin

This is the first Halloween in as long as I can remember that Gavin isn't here with us.  With Gavin moved out and living with his grandparents, he will be doing this stuff over there and not with us.  It's really one of those bittersweet moments where doing the right thing feels somehow, less right.

Canceling Trick or Treat?

I fear that we are going to have to skip trick or treat this year. It's only 40°F, windy and it's raining.  The boys will be so incredibly disappointed but we're concerned about their wellbeing.  Assuming my paycheck cleared today, which it hasn't, we were going to take the boys to Chuck E Cheeses. However, perhaps we will have to try later on this week.  There has to be a point where you draw the line when it comes between safety and fun. Do you have an idea of where you would draw the line? Has weather conditions every caused you to have to cancel trick or treating for your kids?

Trick or Treat 2012

We are supposed to go trick or treating this afternoon with the boys.  The weather however, is pretty nasty at the moment. I'm really hoping to get them out this afternoon because they have been looking so forward to this. I can't wait to take their pictures wearing their costumes. :-) How do your kids handle trick or treat?

Did I miss the full moon?

I don't know what the heck is going on with the boys but they have essentially been up all night. Emmett had a meltdown at 1:30 am and it lasted for quite awhile.  I have know idea what happened, he just woke up and thought it was time to get up.  I think Emmett ended up waking Elliott. Lizze and I have been back and forth with the boys all night. Is there full moon that I missed.

Tragedy has struck

Out of respect for the family involved, I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.  I'm asking everyone to please say a prayer for peace. Tragedy struck this evening and there are people experiencing unimaginable pain tonight.  I'm at a loss for words as I have never witnessed anything like this before in my life.  I was a medic for a long time and I'm having a really hard time processing what I saw tonight. Please say a prayer tonight for this family.  Their hearts are breaking. Hug your loved ones and never take them for granted. Thank you

Vote for your favorite blog commenting tool

I have been using the commenting system called LiveFyre for a little while now. I like the networking features but it seems that a great many people are having issues with it. My goal is to create and foster conversation and dialog. That can't be done if the commenting tool is user friendly. I personally feel that IntenseDebate is the best option as it's made by wordpress and works very, very well. I value your opinion and so I'm asking you to vote for your prefered commenting software. :-) [polldaddy poll=6643074]

He who has yet to be named

I finished setting up the snakes new winter home.  We already had everything we needed down in the basement, including the heat lamp.  The boys are busy thinking about a name. To be honest, I don't know that it matters what we call it because we don't know if it's a boy or a girl. The snake seems to be doing much better this afternoon.  I thinking that it may have been dazed yesterday.  It still acts a bit strange but I think it's going to be okay. It's really tiny and I don't honestly know how it survived the incident in the first place. Either way,  he/she that is yet to be named, will have a comfortable winter and hopefully be ready to be released in the spring when…
