Operation Hope: Paused for Thanksgiving

Gavin has arrived home for possibly the next 3 days. The reason for this is because the boys don't have school all week and Lizze's parents work during the day.  We feel that it would be less traumatic for all involved if Gavin were to just stay home these three days instead of bouncing back and forth.  That would prove to be very stressful on the E's. There is an off chance that Gavin may be able to stay with my parents.  Believe me, we will jump on that if it becomes a possibility. Elliott and Emmett are already so stressed out. I have no idea what to expect. I also don't expect to have any significant problems with Gavin because he hasn't been home for a long time, so…

I’m still here

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for helping to keep me online. I have been able to move to a better server. Im still experiencing some hiccups but I'm no longer being throttled. Hopefully this will hold the site for some time. However, with the constantly increasing server requirements due to increased traffic they said that I may have to ended up on a dedicated server at some point. Right now, I'm just grateful to be back up and running. Thank you all so much. ...

6am and the screaming has already begun

Emmett woke up this morning and is already screaming.  He apparently decided to watch something in Elliott's room but Elliott wanted to watch something else. This triggered a shit ton of screaming. For some reason, I feel like this is going to be one of those days.....

Looks like things actually worked out for once

Crazy Glue can't fix everything everything. I mentioned in my last post that I crazy glued Bella nail, in order to secure it and hopefully avoid a trip to the Vets. It worked great stuff first.  Unfortunately, without thinking, I let the dogs out and Bella broke the same nail even more.  She came in the house and left a trail of blood everywhere.  This time however, the boys were home to experience this. The nail was in much worse shape than it was previously and we resigned ourselves to have to remove it ourselves. It just needed snipped off, so that it could heal. I called my Dad because I wasn't sure how this was going to go and I wanted backup in case I needed it. Emmett was…

Thank God for Crazy Glue

Elliott and Emmett arrived home.  Emmett immediately noticed something was wrong with Bella. We explained that she had broken her toe nail. Both the E's are very concerned and Emmett has been giving Bella extra hugs because they will make her feel better.  Lizze and I reexamined the nail and cleaned it up a little better with some peroxide wipes. The nail is actually cracked all the way around but stops at the bottom on both sides.  Basically, the underside of the nail is intact.  That got me thinking.  I figure that since the wound is clean and it's just the actual nail, why not just glue it back with Crazy Glue? I've sealed cuts with crazy glue and they do it in the hospital as well. Anyway, I simply…

Murphy’s Law is a bitch

I wrote a post the other day that talked about how, at least in my family, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I'd like to back that claim up with the events of the past 2 days. Last night, I learned that my blog was at risk of being shut down do to the high volume of traffic. I'm currently working on resolving this issue. Thank you all for your donations to help me move to a new,  more powerful server. This morning, I was cleaning the first floor and letting Lizze sleep.  Shortly after Lizze can down, about 11:30am, we noticed a trail of blood on the floor.  Lizze and I, having watched many a crime show, are armchair forensic experts.  We tracked the source of the…

#Autism and Independence: Brushing Teeth

I wanted to share something that I'm really, very proud of.  Emmett, is continuing to make strides towards independence, even at 4 years of age.  Emmett has become quite determined to do things on his own. In general, this is a really good thing. Practically speaking, we can allow him to do some of what he wants to do, on his own. Some things are simply too dangerous. Even so, we try to find a balance between us helping him and him doing things independently.  In the pictures below, I was told, by Emmett, that he wanted to setup his toothbrush, all by himself.  I was happy to oblige. He did a really good job.  Seeing the look on his face when he succeeded was absolutely priceless. Seeking how clean…

Lost and Tired needs help to stay online?

Over the past few days, you may have noticed that my site is running rather slow or it's not functioning at all. That's actually past of the reason for me not posting as often lately. I just got off the phone with Tech support at bluehost. I have a rather large problem. This is both good and bad at the same time. Basically, the server is almost constantly throttling my site because I'm getting to much traffic for the shared server. They informed me that between October 16, 2012 and November 16, 2012, I have had over 1.5 million hits. What does this mean? On the plus side, I have a really popular site and a lot of people are finding something meaningful in my daily word vomit. For that,…
